I agree Jane. What annoys me (a purely selfish approach) is that in the States it is often used for ‘heavily pre-treated’ BC, e.g. chemo-resistant cancer. So why are they trialling it as first-line treatment here? The rate these things move, it will be too late for those of us it would currently benefit most.
I was thinking this morning, surely it is a huge waste of money to run independent trials if there is already peer-reviewed research to suggest its efficacy. Why can’t there be some international body to OK initial findings, pool resources and spend any excess on further, new directions. I guess I am being incredibly dense and missing some vital reasoning. Hey ho, no change there.
just turned down by PCT for funding foe Avastin ! no surprise there!!! But just found out there may be a suitable trial at Royal Marsden so I will be keeping fingers toes and everything else crossed.
I just want to start some treatment and keep getting conflicting advice
Sorry to hear about you being turned down by the PCT but it does sound as if at least you were half prepared for that. You must have been disappointed though.
I’ll join you in crossing fingers toes and everything for the trial at the Royal Marsden. The waiting is really really difficult though isn’t it?
“Chin up” and hopefully you’ll get some good news soon. Kay x
