Hi ladies I’m reading a lot about aveeno for during rads , can you tell me which one so I can get some in ready please x
Jamesy
MIght be worth asking this question on the October 2017 radiotherapy thread to see if any of the ladies on there are using it.
I used E45 during my treatment in January but different hospitals recommend different ones.
Helena x
I am sure there are other versions but I bought 'Aveeno_ Skin Relief Moisturising Lotion’_ which was £8 for 300ml from Sainsbury. It has a pump action top which I find useful.
I must admit that, touch wood, I haven’t had any skin problems so far and I haven’t needed to use the organic Aloe Vera Gel which I also bought.
I am having my 11th session today and my last (of 15) is next Thursday.
I do hope everything goes well for you Jamesy46.
Hi Jamesy. I’m using Aveeno daily moisturising lotion. Im on day 12 and a bit sore but not too bad. All the best. X
Hi Jamesy, my hospital supplied me with QV cream during rads. This was the only one I was allowed to use! During chemo I was supplied with Aveeno, which I loved and now use all the time. Different hospitals have different ways. Ask at the pre assessment to save buying unnecessary stuff. X
Will do Thankyou , I seem to have spent a fortune already ! Bcnurse said best get some soft bras perhaps without wires , I’m a 38 h cup , they are so expensive , along with booking dog walks for the first few days after op , button up Jamas , phew it’s mounting up
I used aveno during rads way back in July 16 I just used the norm body lotion if you ask your GP and say its for rads they may give you a large bottle on prescription and as you get free prescriptions now its a good way of doing it as you can lash on loads and loads without worrying about how much it costs xx
That’s a good idea !!
Yes because the more you can get on the better skin seems to hold up, I am very fair and thought id fry I just moisturised at every opportunity at least 3 times a day and my skin held up amazingly xx so if you can get it then do because at least then cost isnt making you scrimp to make it last longer as this cancer business is a bloomin expensive lark
Take care and just know it gets loads easier as the weeks go on to find who you are again xx
hi jamesy i started with aloe vera but they switched me to aveeno moisterising cream and some hydrocortisone cream 1% which stopped the itching both have been brilliant for me one of the radiotherapy team recommened it and thank god they did it really really stops that horrible itch ,good luck with your rads they will look after you well xx little fairy big hug
Thankyou so much Helena , have been scouring the forum as regards the hormone therapy as well so that I am fore armed so to speak ready for Tuesday , I will ask all of the % for taking it or not , I would just like to turn up and they say actually we made a mistake , this won’t happen but would be nice xxxx
Hi Helena , I’ve just got in a round trip of four hours ! He just checked my stitches and took last dtessings off , I told him I thought I was there for my results and he’s said no I told you after surgery today was just for a post op check up , I’m gutted , have to go back same time next week so another four hours , it’s rush hour coming back and it’s horrendous , I’m definitely having a gin and tonic tonight !!!
At least I know I’m healing well as was a bit worried about a bit of fluid build up but all looks well x he must of spoke to me when I was full of anaesthetic as I don’t remember ! He is such a nice man too and I was a bit upset I didn’t get results as I had worked myself up as had my girls , oh well just another week it will soon go , PS I had a coffee instead xxx
Just got back from results , good news is no lymph node involvement so brilliant , going to have more surgery on Friday as the 10mm turned out to be a 30 mm and ore cancerous cels were on the margin so going to shave more off .
Also said today that it’s her2 positive so I will need herceptin and chemo followed by rads after I’m healed so that bit was not so good to hear x totally pleased about no spreading but totally scared about treatment plan . How is herceptin administered etc and for how long ? I haven’t got appt with onc yet till after this 2 nd round of surgery x
Thankyou , so herceptin takes a year ! Oh my word , this is such a long journey that we are all taking , was totally shocked today as just was expecting rads , this has put a whole different perspective on things and I cried my eyes out x
