It does make sense and you have made my day! More sunshine and arm raising exercises for me this morning! Take each hour as it comes and enjoy life. DebsOlivia

Hi, I really feel for you. I was in a similar but not exactly the same position 18 months ago. I was 72 and had had a lung scan that apparently threw up a breast lump on the results. I was reassured it would ‘nothing’ but called to the breast clinic for a mammogram,. A very experienced specialist couldn’t feel anything and said it was probably a cyst and I’d be able to leave after the mammogram. However the mammogram did show something and I had an ultrasound and was told she was sure it was cancer, and she did a biopsy. Then we had that wait , like you. But I knew really, from what had been said. We were going on a cruise a week later and I really didn’t want to go, but nothing happens that fast and the surgery was planned for weeks ahead so we went. It was very hard in many ways, but also it took our minds off it all. Sitting at home waiting for the op would probably have been worse. Your big 70th birthday family trip sounds lovely and you should go ahead. It’s good to celebrate our big birthdays and make memories. Good luck with it all. X

@liv1liv1l I’m also on HRT and same as you thought I’d stay on it until I get my results and am told otherwise! Glad you’re feeling a bit better. What a lovely community this is!

It sounds like whatever you have has been caught early and it may even be nothing at all. They are being careful. I am 76 and was diagnosed in January. It was a shock. Thought so long past menopause my hormones were running down.

wishing you good luck but also feel you are going to be alright. Sending good thoughts and energy for your calmness to keep you safe and seeing you being all clear. x

Well, I had a phone call to say that I need to have further biopsies as the results weren’t consistent with the image on the mammogram and scan.

So, I was relieved first of all that the first biopsies didn’t show anything suspicious, but now I’m wondering if they just missed the target

More waiting…

Thinking of you for 7th May for your results.

Oh liv1liv1l that’s frustrating - more waiting for you  thank you for your wishes I hope you get a good result from your next tests.

I’m currently in hospital after a bit of an accident with two broken ribs an injured lung and small spleen laceration so I won’t be able to go to my appointment - I’m going to call tomorrow and see if they will do phone consultation instead - just want to know one way or another now

Stay strong and hopefully you’re wait wont be too long :crossed_fingers:t2:

OMG, I’m so sorry to hear about your accident. That’s really unfortunate. I hope you’re OK.

I’m sure they’ll speak to you over the phone about your results - given the circumstances. And if you don’t mind me saying, you seem quite cool in a crisis!

I’m having the further biopsies on Friday, when I should have been getting the initial results. So, I’ll be on holiday when the new results come through. I’ve said I’m quite happy to have a consultation over the phone/video call. The nurse did say to me that any possible procedure wouldn’t be that quick.

Fingers :crossed_fingers: for us both.

I don’t know about being cool - but it’s sure taken my mind off the wait! Glad you’ve got your next lot of biopsies this week and it won’t mess up your holiday plans.

Depending on how quickly I heal my trip is not yet certain! I can only concentrate on one thing at a time and at the moment it’s the next lot of pain relief !

Good luck to you for Friday and I’ll let you know how it goes on Thursday for me. Xx

Hi liv1liv1l

I rang today to explain my current situation and they agreed to give me results over the phone. I do have a tiny grade 2 breast cancer 5mm x 6mm. I will get an appointment to discuss at my local hospital but expect it to be lumpectomy and probably some radiotherapy. As for timescales she said asap but a few weeks here and there wouldn’t make any difference - I obviously need my rib fractures (on the other side) to be better before surgery. Feel strangely relieved to know what I’m dealing with.

Hi Deb,

I’ve only just read this, being the 7th.

I’m sorry to hear about your results but it’s good to know what you’re dealing with.

I can understand you feeling strangely relieved, and this will sound really odd, but I almost convinced I’m in a similar situation. I’ve got the repeat biopsies tomorrow and I’ll get the results over the phone. I just want to know.

I really do hope you’re feeling a bit better and make a full recovery from your accident.

Keep in touch.

Best,

Liv

Thank you Liv

Seems quite surreal at the moment and I’m dealing with being at home the first night from the hospital after my accident waiting for my 6 hourly meds to kick in while surfing between an armchair and the sofa- bed was a step too far tonight for the pain in my ribs

As for the BC - it is still a relief to know what I’m facing rather than doing the is it or isn’t it waiting game. Hope your biopsies go well today and that you get your results through quickly. Let me know how it goes today and if they give you any timescale for results - keeping everything crossed for you love Deb xx

@surreydeb

Well, I had a further three samples taken by core biopsy yesterday.

This time I had a frank conversation with the breast nurse and the consultant beforehand. They told me that the abnormal area is 16mm on mammogram and 12mm on the ultrasound scan (different modalities).

Whatever the results of thebiopsies, there most likely would be surgery, but they need the info first.

I feel better for them being transparent as they have agreed to give me the results over the phone whilst on the big family holiday. This is important to me as my youngest daughter, who has Down’s syndrome, will have the support of her siblings (who live far away).

Hope you’re getting some relief from pain now and are able to sleep better.

Xx

Oh Liv I’m glad all went well for your biopsies yesterday - and that you had an honest conversation with them - it bizarrely is a relief to know we are facing something :woman_shrugging:

I’m glad they’ll give you your results by phone too - at least your holiday can happen.

I checked my NHS App yesterday and my full biopsy report is on there. Invasive ductal carcinoma grade 2 (score 7) b5b

ER 2/8 PR 0/8 HER-2 Negative score 0 lots of other info on there but that’s the conclusion.

Not sure what it all means and resisting Dr Google - going to wait until I get the oncology appointment.

Just concentrating on recovering fully from my accident so I’m best placed to deal with whatever comes at me for this

Please let me know how you get on with your results - and ENJOY YOUR HOLIDAY!!!

@liv1liv1l So pleased you were able to get some good grounding advice from the helpline- I know I found it invaluable while I was waiting for my results .

Frustrated for you that you don’t have the answers yet ..it’s good to know that your team are being thorough and ensuring they’ve got the full picture - while it can feel never ending..the waiting will hopefully soon be over x

Hi @surreydeb

Am I tight in thinking that you have had your results on the NHS App before being told by your BC Team? X

@mrsjelly hi no that’s not quite what happened. I was in hospital after an accident so couldn’t attend my face to face appointment to get my biopsy results. They reluctantly told me over the phone that I do have a small cancer and am being referred to my local hospital for treatment. My full biopsy report then appeared on my NHS App giving further info and I haven’t had a chance to discuss that with anyone yet - my local hospital appointment is next week.

So I was told about the cancer in advance of the report going on the App.

Phew! I was thinking how wrong that would be.

I’ve not had any results from my investigations at my local hospital on the NHS,App but did get those from biopsies I had taken in a London hospital. They thankfully appeared after I was given the bad news . X
