Hi new to the site, was diagnosed with DCIS and in lymph nodes on 26th october after finding lump week before. Had op on 22nd november and home 2 days later with drain removed thankfully. results for stage on 7th december. Wound plasters being removed tomorrow, feel well but armpit numb. Getting a bit paranoid looking out for seromas and swelling of arm and dont really understand what symptoms apart from limited mobility in left arm I should be experiencing. Have felt worse with the flu to be honest. also my kids aged 23 and 20 and hubby all run down with the worry of this past rollercoaster month. So thought I would join this site to talk to those going through this at the same time. I am 47 (young I am told ?) and no family history. After op last week my sonsultant said more disease on lymph nodes than he thought:(
hi minty sorry you have to be on here, but welcome. You will find lots of others will join you soon and you will get lots of good advice. I had lobular, had lumpectomy, got clear margins and in nodes took 14 nodes 11 were cancerous.
I think we all get a bit paranoid, and the more you are on here you will realise it is perfectly normal. I had op and node clearance in June and the underarm is still a bit numb. I also worried about lymphodemia. They will give you arm exercises to do. Once you have your treatment package in place I think you will feel better, something to focus on. The waiting is the worse time. I have just finished 6 lots of chemo, not a piece of cake, but all doable, They are now giving me a break to recover and I will start radiotherapy after christmas.
Feel free to PM me if you would like to.
I am sure others will be along soon.
