Dear Hatty, I had full clearance (29 nodes, 5 were affected) at end Nov 2010. Within a month I could get my arm over my head and have full movement now - a few wierd numb spots though.
For good measure, my friends sister had clearance some years ago too, and moves furniture for a living still…
Thank you all so much for your comments it really does help and yes i will send for the CD. I am lucky at the moment as im not having breast surgery just node removal being a cup they cant find the primary cancer and assume it is breast. Cant find a tumour no point in removing the breast. had a 2.3.mm cells in nodes 2 for sure and maybe 3 micro cells. So nodes have to go. Im hoping without breast surgery the node removal will be easier to deal with. I already have limited movement in arms from when i was mountain bike racing for years so thinking about having physio amd pilates now before op to help. Chemo has gone well and after two treatments had full clinical response. 2 more tax to go and then chemo is finished just herceptin, surgery and rads. They are not doing rads to the node area as they belive this gives you a 40% more chance of lymphodeama. Any more thoughts welcome and thank you all.
I had lymph node clearance in sept 2009 and, like you, only one was affected. Since then I have joined a gym and have no problems with my arm whatsoever. I am wary of sounding flippant tho, as I know a few people who have lymphodema and its no fun.
Interested to read your treatment. I had a 19 mm lump in breast and 1 node affected, it had 2.5 mm of cancer in it. I was told that even if I had a mx I would have had rads to my node area due to the node which showed some evidence of capsular invasion. I had already developed lympho after my clearance, but for now it is v mild.
