Back from mums first oncology appointment

Hi everyone

Just came back from mums first oncology appointment.

All went well and after knowing treatment plan, now I feel…how do I say, something finally is getting started to fight this monster hehe

HER2 positive, that was the result they were waiting for. Doctor was so nice and explained so well, he said goal is curative, my mum will have have EC 3 cycle with anti her2 (Phesgo) and it says Docetaxel 3 weekly 4 cycle

Than, surgey and after biopsy, they will tell wether more treatment such as radiotherapy, tablets etc

My mum got type 2 diabetes as well, they she will get steroids too, closely monitor her diabetes, infection etc temperature checks daily

All new terminology for me :smile:can someone explain to me bit more about the cycle and more about all these drugs

Any tips how to look after my mum and any food or drinks to avoid or anything like she can take to have good immunity

Thank you

 you can ring the number on here and speak to the nurses about your mum’s treatment plan and they will be able to give you a lot of information in relation to her specific plan  remember it has been tailored specifically for her  you should have been given a leaflet about foods to watch out for, like wash all salad thoroughly, keep off cheeses like Brie again do discuss with the nurses on here they will help and advise you. Take it a treatment at a time with her, everyone is different and responds to treatments differently  get her booked on a look good feel better session through your local MacMillan at your trust if it’s something she might like  there are also completely therapies she should be entitled to also, again ask at your MacMillan at your trust if she might like anything. Do little treats for her, take her for a walk or drive or whatever you enjoy doing together, give her things to look forward to. Possibly you might need to rearrange depending how she copes but do keep her looking forward to enjoyable things too. It can try and take your joy, but don’t let it  make each second count :heart:others will pop on too with support  sending much :heart:to you and your mum :two_hearts::two_hearts::sparkles::sparkles:Shi xx
