For the past two days I have had an awfully bad pain in my arm where they put the needles for everything…is this normal?
I am having a PICC line put in on the 20th just in time for the 21st…FEC number three…ooooh That rhymes…clever me!

I think it’s just par for the course… I didn’t have a problem after the first session of chemo, but did for the next three. I was told it’s the effect of the chemo drugs going through the veins, as they’re obviously quite toxic!! Yuck! Doesn’t bear thinking about… My arm, especially the lower arm is tender to touch, so don’t touch!! And if I stretch, e.g. to get something of the top shelf of a cupboard, I can really feel the stretch…
Hopefully it will disappear with time… I’ve just had the last intravenous chemo on Thursday and go on to tablets for the next four cycles, so my veins will at last get a reprieve, as they’ve been protesting big-time!! I guess if you’re having a PICC line put it, I imagine that the arm will get better gradually… fingers crossed.
All the best for now,
Ali
Hi Babyboo
I have completed my 4 cycles of epi and for 2 of the cycles my veins went very hard and sore. Its normal for this to happen as the drugs go through. I am now on tablets which is so much better as i think something would have had to be done as my veins were always collapsing and it was getting harder each time. Altough one area is quite sure if i stretch, i found that stretching it was my way of easing it . Over time it will get better.
