Hi this is my first time on the site.I had mastectomy and reconstruction last summer and was given a ‘softee’ which is ok. Given I am an ample dd on the good side and a b-c on the reconstruction side, i am, despite my best efforts somewhat lob sided. To top it all when i was chemoing last year we booked a hol-however how am i to wear swimsuit or t shirt with little & large . All suggestions gratefully received- thanks
Have you looked on the NicolaJane site? they do swim prothesis - maybe a small one of them to boost the reconstructed side. But you’d need a pocketed swimsuit I guess. Apparently you can swim with the softee in but it would take forever to dry after and if it isn’t really balancing you out anyway, there probably isn’t a lot of point.
hello there, there is a really good booklet by BCC called confident choice , its on the website. It gives you links to all the organisations/companies that sell little inserts for matching up breast sizes for all day and also stuff about swimsuits/swimming etc. I swim with my softie in a pocketed swimsuit but its a temp measure until I regain my usual size and will then get a more permenant swim prosthesis - guess you may just need the little insert thingamys…
best of luck with it, Nicola

Hello there! ![]()
I’ve had a mastectomy, so I use a pocketed swimsuit. However, I’ve not gone to the expense of buying a swim form - instead I use a net bath scrunchie (you know, those little netted pom poms that usually have a short loop of cord attached to them for you to wash yrself with in the bath/shower).
I’m only a 34B on my “breast side” so I have to buy the miniature size net bath scrunchie, but you’d probably be ok with the full size one as a balancer - you could trim it down if necessary.
I got the idea via these forums - there’s been a link to a website called breastfree.org (think that’s right) and they’ve got all sorts of good suggestions like that.
Try a netted scrunchie inside your swimming cozzie/bikini, cos you can get them from most places for about £1 or less. You’d think they’d show through as lumpy but miraculously they don’t show through your swimwear.
I dont know whether you have any pocketed swimming costumes, but although theyre often pricier than ordinary ones, the netted scrunchies are really cheap, so pocketed swimwear might be something you want to consider buying. You could always insert a net scrunchie inside your present swimwear if it’s not pocketed and just see how it looks and how you feel about the net scrunchie as a “booster” to make your “two sides” balanced. The scrunchies are great, as they dont hold water, and all I do as I get out of the water is surreptitiously place my arm against my “scrunchie side” to just squeeze out the tiny bit of water held in there. The scrunchie immediately comes back up to its shape afterwards.
Good luck, and lots of love xx
