Well so much for trying to do a good deed??? In trying to return some mis-directed post early yesterday morning before my eagerly awaited Pilates class, I managed to throw myself onto the pavement, needed to be picked up/rescued by passersby and proceeded to bleed copiously all over said pavement.
I now have a large blue/green bruise/grazed/scabby egg lump on my chin plus a big blue bruise on my ribs and so many cuts and grazes on both my hands I will not be able to do any housework of ANY kind for at least a week!!!
What with no boobs, and a face and hands that look like I have been bare knuckle fighting with Mike Tyson plus blisters on my feet…am I feeling sorry for myself…well, not a smuch as yesterday!!!
Rather than go to hospital to get it cleraned up I managed to beg some sterile swabs, saline and dressings from the District Nurses office near home but none of them would actually help me - red tape, they have no insurance cover for dealing with it! There was me all distressed and nobody ‘official’ would help. I couldn’t face going to hospital AGAIN but thankfully I have good friends nearby who helped me get it all cleaned up. Hubby was away with daughter at a Uni Open Day in Dundee so had to wait until he came home at teatime for a hug!
Oh, and I have broken the crown on my front tooth so that is chipped and will need replaing so a trip to the dentist will now have to be fitted in around chemo etc… I think that#s about enough whingeing today from me!

OH NO…how horrible Susie…I hope you are on the mend soon.
Blow red tape…I would have hoped anyone who was able to help you would have done so.
Rest up and take it very, very easy.

Poor you, it’s really the pits when things happen, last week I slipped on the back stairs to my flat, should’ve left the stupid rubbish for a time I wasn’t feeling grotty. Scraped all down the ? Lymphoedema arm, ankle and knee, used several colourful expletives to myself then realised I had a full audience of students having a cigarette on their back stairs, and me in full baldie glory. Bruises scrapes now gone and arm appeared non the worse but oh god did feel bad for a while there.
Oh Sue,
That’s absolute sh!t for you. No surprise you feel so low. Get the arnica out on the bruises. Typical bloody red tape - load of boll@cks.
I will fully understand if you can’t do Tues now but give me a call when you want - am out for lunch today and tomorrow so may not hear phone!! I can always come over and do nursemaid duties but be warned they will involve cakes and little nursing.
xxxx
Hi LIz
Enjoy your lunches - I know you will, I don’t have to implore you to! Of course I will be okay for Tuesday but might not be up to driving as hands are very sore, so you might have to come here! Will speal Monday pm.
Sue xx
Oh, and thank you for the sympathy and good wishes Belinda and Patty at least I have something visible to get some now!!! It will be a few days before anyone tells me I am looking well again!!! LOL YOu all know how annoying that is when you look well but feel cr@p!
Enjoy the sunshine, it’s a lovely day here.
Sue x
Poor you - it doesn’t rain, but it pours !. Normally I would recommend chocolate, but the chemo might put you off that. When I was on chemo, I still managed a glass of red wine every night (nobody said I couldn’t), so maybe you could put your feet up, and open a bottle.
Hope you feel better soon.
Oh Susie,
That is awful! And terrible that you weren’t helped!
Hope you feel better soon, enjoy your ‘enforced’ break from the housework.
Hope you and Liz enjoy your lunch, I am desperate to join you both soon, now my operation is going to prevent it a little longer! Unless you both fancy a drive down to Chester- you’d be welcome ANY time and I can provide plenty of chocolate and cakes.
Take care xx
Nicky - I’m sure Sue and I can manage a trip down to visit you as long as she can cope with my driving !!
Sue - first lunch was very nice and I’ve just got in. Went to the Water Witch and had a piece of pecan pie with cream for pud and thought of you! I’ll be fine to drive over on Tues. No probs at all.
xx
Oh Sue, I’m really sorry to hear of your accident.
How awful for you, especially as you were trying to do a good turn!!!
Not good that the professionals couldn’t help you either…
Really hope your family and friends are dedicating their treats on you.
You deserve buckets loads of sympathy now and cakes and chocolate, and maybe a glass or two of something to steady your nerves, and comfy cushions and meals on a tray, and of course flowers and of course HUGE TREATS for as long as you want them…
I bet you ache today! Take care of those bruises with arnica.
Lots of love Wendy xx
Oh poor Sue, What a rotten thing to happen to you when you were trying to do a good deed too. I wish I was nearer so that I could pamper you. But I might miss my flight to France and I don’t want to do that! I would love to join you all for lunch and I am an excellent driver so could have been your chauffeur ! Seriously though it sounds painful and a horrible thing to happen. Cannot believe the nurses wouldn’t help you.
But this is the ideal place to have a moan. I would love to hear how your husband and daughter got on at Dundee. Did it appeal to her? If so I may be seeing a lot more of you and we could caravan together and I could show you all the lovely fishing villages and my secret coves and beaches. Meantime make sure your hubby looks after you. Hope you make a speedy recovery. Much love as always, Val X
Sue,
As the others have said, that’s awful! and not to be treated is just plain stupid, rubbish red tape!
Sending you a gentle hug, have a nice cream cake for me! You too Liz!
Love Julie x
Thank you all for yout TLC and cyber cakes and hugs. I am on the mend and so far healing up well mind you I have the most cracking bruise on my chin! What with that and the scabs I look like I have a beard!!! LOL
At least I can laugh about it now but it was very sore over the weekend and I actually used some of my co-codamol tablets that I haven’t needed for over a year now! They really helped ease the pain and helped me to sleep.
On the bright side I have had my evening meal made for me the last two nights and I haven’t washed anything for the last three days now! Pity I had to go to such lengths!!!
Thanks all, Sue x
Glad you’re improving. I bet those scabs are itchy!!!
Great you can laugh about it too.
Brave lady!
Lol Wendy xx
Hiya Sue,
Just catching up with the boards - how awful for you. Glad you’re on the mend and its nice to be looked after!
Can’t believe the district nurses wouldn’t help you - so much for the caring profession, think all agencies are cover your backs profession.
Hope you’re chilling out on this lovely day and a very big ((((((((((cyber hug to you))))))))))
Love
Chris xxx
