I would like to get recommendations about great beauty products to use during cancer treatment. Not the clinical basic stuff that I’m expected to be given/advised to use by my oncologist (I see him on Sunday), but ones that are more pampering, and make you feel feminine, work very well but are still safe and gentle.
I know I’m not going to bother looking my best some (most?) days, but I also know that a bit of looking after yourself can work wonders.
So are there any skincare, bodycare or make up items/brands that really helped you??
Hello Secret Angel,
If you would like some pampering and make-up recommendations during your treatment, I can recommend the Look Good Feel Better Workshops which are provided by the LGFB UK charity. The workshops offer free skin care and make-up workshops through a network of over 70 hospitals and cancer support centres nationwide. Here is the link to their website. lookgoodfeelbetter.co.uk/workshops-and-advice
I got an invite via the Macmillan Cancer Centre at my local hospital where they had the LGFB ’Pampering Therapy’ booklets. The two hour workshop is enjoyable and gives you a chance to meet other ladies going through the challenges of breast cancer.
The lovely surprise is the substantial gift bag of make-up products you are given to take home which included top brands from Estée Lauder, Lancôme, Clinque.
All the very best.
Peace and Positivity,
M x
A friend of mine was doing a Tropic Skincare party just after my mastectomy in October, I was reluctant to go but really glad I did, I was chosen to be the “guinea pig” for the facial & also the make up and in addition to the couple of bits I purchased, my family bought me some more for Christmas. I love the products and they are paraben free. It really does you the world of good to spoil yourself whilst your going through treatment & together with the extra water I’ve been consuming I can see and feel a big difference in my skin. You can buy Tropic on the internet or there maybe a part plan agent in your area x
I was thinking on the same wavelength as you secretxxangel, luckily I had a lot of pamper items for Christmas and are now making the most. I had a Kath Kidson Nail and Hand Care gift set I think depending on which Chemo you will be having of course but Tax ruins the nails. So I have started to using the cuticle cream, hand scrub abd handcream in advance to hopefully get nails and skin in tip top condition beforehand. I also intend to buy a clear nail varnish with vitamins or something similar.
A good all over skin moistureser is a must - personal choice , I had Dove gift sets as gifts but Im afraid I dont like the smell !! And a moisturing shower gel to nourish your skin. There are some great half price offers in Boots at the moment.
Lip balm, Chemo plays havic with lips- again a kind friend bought me Nivea lip balm with a pink sheen to give a hint if colour. Also The Body shop does a gorgeous range.
Finally I am going to try Rivitalash and Revitabrow, Rivitalash was created by a gentleman who’s wife was ill and losing her eyelashes. He made this serum to help strengthen and help them grow. Afterwards he created Revitabrow for the eyebrows. Will it wofk in Chemo- I have no idea, but for me- it dosnt matter- I accept I will loose eyelashes snd Eyebrows but if these help me keep them or maybe even if they help ghem grow back then job done xx
Good luck xx
