Bedfordshire

Hello

Am I really the only Bedfordian on here. I live in a lovely village bout 8 miles outside Bedford and would love to chat/meet any other ladies who live hereabouts.

Donna xx

Hi Donna

I am just over the border in Herts! There are a few of us who plan to meet up in May (date still to be decided!). You would be most welcome to join us. There is a thread on the ‘in your area’ section. I will go and find it now and give it a bump. Or, you could pm me and I will send you the details!

Please dont feel alone, I was actually born and bred in Bedford so know the area well. Hope to meet you soon

Hiya,
I am not miles away either in Huntingdon (ish). And I got to see my mum near mk quite regularly. Feel free to come along to our meet up in may. And any questions or support feel free to ask

Am hoping to meet up with the Herts ladies soon - it would be great to see you too!

Thank you lovely ladies…

my sense of geography is bad…i mean really bad, will have to grab sat nav back from son…having surgery in May but will look at your thread and see if it’s doable, got an automatic and left hand surgery so

how do you bump threads up, apart from geography i’m also useless at IT!!!

Donna xx

Donna, if you just post a comment, it bumps the thread up.

What date is your surgery?

Hi Donna,

I’ve sent you a PM. And in answer to your question, I couldn’t find anyone in Beds either when I was diagnosed apart from someone I already knew (who you know as well, if I’m right about who you are!)

I’ve met up with some folks in MK and I ended up going to Reading a few times to meet up with a gang of very noisy ladies from all over the south and Midlands, a lot of who were very busy on the Dark, Dark Woods and Pink Road of Chemo threads (you’ll find them if you dig deeply enough through the forums or use the search). A group of us have stayed very close friends which is lovely - we understand each other in ways that no-one else can!

Joan op on 8th May, but had pre-op assessment and have had to go back twice to give more blood as they say not happy, might just be dehydrated, how much water can one girl drink. Just hope it doesn;t delay op.

Jane, will pm you again if you don’t mind cos I can’t think of anyone else I know who has unfortunately joined this journey xx

Ladies there is another thread with Beds/herts meet up. It is in the secondaries section but many of us are primary ladies .
We are meeting on Sat.The thgread is next to this on in the list at the moment. You would be most welcome there. J xx

Waiting for results but not worrying yet as I am just concentrating on getting over the surgery and staying fit, healthy and cheeerful. I have had really good care at Bedford so far and am feeling really good.

If you don’t mind saying whereabouts in Bedford are you, i’m in Sharnbrook a village just outside Bedford.

Clare

I’m going to be having treatment at Bedford so nice to hear good things
thank you x

Lynn,

I’m in Turvey, Beds and have known Donna/Smudge for a very loooong time. I had my surgery at Biddenham Manor, chemo at Bedford and rads at Addenbrookes. All of my treatment has been excellent - the Primrose Unit is such a lovely place and the staff all deserve awards for their work and the wonderful atmosphere they create. One of the clinical support workers lives round the corner from me so it was especially nice to see a familiar face. We’re so lucky to have a place like that for our treatment.

Another big plus is that whenever I’ve been I’ve always seen my own onc, never another member of the team, and I’ve never felt rushed - she’s always spent as long with me as I’ve needed. I know a lot of other people on here only very rarely see their actual onc so I think it’s pretty unusual.

Lost this thread until today, so hope the rest of you have been able to find it and hope you didn’t think I was being unsociable by not replying.
Smudge - Hope your op went well and you are on the road to recovery.
I live in Cranfield. Know where Sharnbrook is as I once covered a maternity leave at the school. I am still too swollen with fluid to risk driving far. But may be later.
Jane - it’s so nice to know that other people also think that Bedford is good. The breast clinic there gave me excellent care. I even wrote to chief exec to sing their praises. Still hug my heart shaped pilow. I know that many other ladies in other parts of the country are not given this little, thoughtful luxury.
Seeing my onc for the first time on Friday. Really pleased to hear that the Primrose unit is friendly and caring, and the care of the onc. well thought of. It makes it all a bit less daunting.
Hope now the forum is running better we will be able to keep in touch.

Hi ladies
