I was diagnosed 6 weeks ago and had my 3rd chemo session yesterday. My hair started to come out in huge clumps today so I took control and shaved it all off. I have a 2 year old and couldn’t risk her getting it all over her. Just feel guilty that my husband had to help and I could see it was destroying him to do it. I have my wig on but haven’t yet shown my daughter my bald head. Any advice on how to do this please as I don’t want to scare her but she’s going to see it eventually? Sorry for the ramble and thank you x
Hi lyoung0161,
I am sorry you are going through this difficult time and I am sure some of our users will be along very soon to show their support.
You may want to try post in our March 2016 Chemotherapy monthly thread. The ladies on here are already showing a great deal of support and I am sure will be quick to share their experiences. We do also have a picture book for young children which explains some of the changes during treatment. You can order or download this here.

Ive been cutting my hair progressively shorter since my 2nd op in November and I will be shaving my hair off as soon as my chemo kicks in and it starts to fall out. My son is 9 and I have told him that my hair will fall out but that it’ll grow back and he’s fine. I refused to let him shave his hair off to support me so he’s agreed to do the race for life with me. Ive just resigned myself to the fact I’m gonna be bald for a while. ?xx
Jembossable she was great with it. Keeps telling everyone that Mummy has no hair and keeps rubbing my head. She’s only 2 so I thought it might upset her. Once again the ability to accept any thing as a child amazes me x
