Hi everyone
So sorry for the late reply… my experience of docetaxel was not a great one… sunday night i got terrible bone pain in my legs… the pain was unbearable and had me screaming i have never felt pain like it and i had to call out the doctor to give me morphine, i ended up on morphine, 30/500mg cocodamol and ibuprofen every four hours for three days, not nice.
On day 5 i ended up in hospital with nutropenic sepsis had five days on IV antibiotics a magnesium sulfate/potassium drip and I had a blood transfusion which resulted in three bags of blood! I did start the G-CSF shots on day 3 and 4 but i already became nutropenic before they had any affect i had them for another 5 days in the hospital… next time they are going to give me the injections from the start so hopefully can avoid it next time.
My hair is now starting to fall out on day 14 in clumps and im going to have to shave it again which im finding it harder this time round then the first time with the fact i wll be bald again
I have my next cycle 30th sept and to say i am dreading it is an under statement.
But going away this weekend with my children so just going to enjoy it and worry about it all when i get back x
Hiya Sarah
So sorry to hear you are having such a bad time with the new chemo. It must be so scary to have side effects like that.
Let’s keep our fingers crossed it was just teething problems with the first one and your body will settle .
I have no experience of that chemo …I had FEC but managed it without any probs.
Ugh the hair loss is not good as its depressing for any woman …hope u have a nice wig so you will feel more confident.
Sending lots of hugs

Hi
My second cycle was kinder to me, I stayed out of hospital (hoorah!) I had 5 injections to take but I only took four as the pain became unbearable, I was back on the morphine but the pain wasn’t in my legs this time it was in my pelvis and liver area, I couldn’t walk without severe pain but it only lasted three days, I say only but that is a long time to deal with horrible pain.
I have been away for the week and had a great time, came back last night, my next cycle is on Friday and then I will have a scan in a few weeks time which I am really dreading Hair completley gone, think it went about three weeks ago but got used to it again now. Steroid weight gain is steadily going up even though I am hardly eating I have put a stone on already a big fat DISLIKE! lol
Hello Sarah
How nice to hear from you …I was only thinking about you this weekend and hoping you were coping with the chemo better this time.
Don’t worry too much about the weight gain ( leggings are magic) and hair loss …focus on those lovely children at the moment and I’m glad that u have had a break .
Sending lots of hugs xxxx
Hi Sarah,
Good to hear that things were a bit easier for you this cycle and you avoided hospital. However, you are right three days of pain feels a lot longer.
Glad you managed to get a little break too. Hope things go well for you on Friday. xxx
Hi Everyone
Just popping on with a quick update! I have been so busy lately, I will try catch up on posts over the weekend.
I just did my 4th Docetaxol today. I had my review with the oncologist on wednesday and great news I am finally responding to a chemo WAHOO! my markers were 700 in May and they were around 234 three weeks ago at my last blood test (he told me this on wednesday) I had another blood test on Wednesday to re-check tumour markers and I was told today at chemo it has halfed again in three weeks, going from 234 to 123!! I am not having a CT scan for another 8 weeks (last had a scan in August) because the oncologist said I don’t need one as treatment is obviously working and he said if the scan came back saying different he wouldn’t believe it any way lol.
I am just happy that I get to enjoy Christmas without worrying about scans and oncology appointments, so that is good, also happy that means I may get a few extra months on my life and that is always good too!! now I just need to get through the 4th and 5th cycle without going into hospital, I do not want to be in hospital over christmas lol. Last year I got bad results on the 23rd December and christmas was hard but I am hoping this year though it will be hard because it could be the last one, atleast I dont have to sit with bad results on my shoulders.
