Being silly still…
Being silly still… Hi,
Sorry to be paraniod, I had a lump, had a biopsy that I was told was benign, 6 weeks on I have pain in my left breat ( where the lumo was) the feeling of heart burn and just think they made a mistake. I went to try and see my doctor today and she is away til the 27th. Anyone who has experience or has had breat cancer, does the area ache, feel likeheart burn…? maybe its my mind. i’m british but live in switzerland. Each time you go tot he doctor its cost LOADS and for the tests even more. I know it’s worth it, but not if I’m just being paranoid and silly ( life has been expensive this year, but very rich in the last news!!)
Anyone who is going through tests, please take courage in the fact I had great results after thinking the worst, I’m just still scared and not trusting the results now I have some pain… Sorry everyone!
And thanks to people who have always replies and really made the difference late at night when the mind does it best at playing tricks!
HI Ginger2,
Sorry I can’t help with any advice as you know where I am with waiting still. But thought I would reply to say that I am on line and thinking about you as it sounds as though you are v worried.
I would just get it checked out- I know you said it costs loads but can’t you ring the nurse at the clinic while your GP is off. Maybe this will help put your mind at rest.
Take Care
Keep in touch

Hi Ginger
Breast cancer does not normally hurt (although it can) but breast tissue following a biopsy almost always does so that’s probably all it is.
When I had a core biopsy the pain didn’t start until about week later and took several weeks to clear up.
To my knowledge, breast cancer doesn’t cause heartburn, either, but stress and anxiety do.
So what I’m saying is that your symptoms alone are not suggestive that they got the results wrong. Biopsy is a pretty accurate tool so if the lump showed as benign then I would be pretty satisfied that it is, indeed, benign.
Did they say what they think the lump is? If it’s a cyst it normally bursts when biopsied and fluid rushes out. Cyclical lumps will usually increase and decrease in size with your menstrual cycle. Fibroadenomas(benign tumours) are usually self-limiting, ie they grow to a certain size then stop, although in a minority of cases they continue to grow and can be removed for cosmetic reasons.
As you have to pay for medical consultations I would monitor the lump for, say, three months and if it gets bigger ask for another referral to a breast clinic. If it doesn’t grow within 3 months it is unlikely to be anything sinister.
Good luck.

I have never heard of heartburn being a symptom of BC, more likely to be caused by anxiety, I should think!
Even though it is expensive, I would go back to the doctor just to put your mind at rest. It is awful worrying about it.
Best wishes

biopsy pain hi Ginger2
I also have (had ,just had it removed on tuesday due to the size 35mm) a benign tumor. Like you felt pain in my breast and under arm. When i went for my pre-opp mentioned this to the nusring sister as i also thought i was paronid being told not cancer, she explained that after having a bio-op you can feel pain possibly up to 6 weeks as sometimes a bio-op can clip a nerve and cause your lymph glands to swell, this is perfectly normal she explained. when i was waiting for my biopsy results those 10 days of hell i came out from head to toe in a rash, so i do feel your heart burn is down to stress. As others advise have another chat with ypur BC nurse.
Thinking of you
