Had bilateral mastectomy 9 weeks ago , heamatoma , 7 units of blood, seroma drainage, opened scars leaking seroma being packed and dressed daily. Left breast started to smell so had both stabbed results back today have got infection in both breasts and need two types of antibiotics. I am really struggling with fatigue and I ache everywhere. I am getting so depressed . Help !!
Hi Sunset. I am so sorry you’re having to go through this. I am having a mare if a time too. I have been unable to start chemo as yet because my therapeutic mammoplasty necrosis and broke down. I have gone through daily dressings and for the last two weeks have had pico dressing on. Have had one infection and now have staph aureus so another different set of antibiotics.
I am utterly exhausted to the point I’m beginning to not care that people think I should be getting over the surgery.
If you haven’t tried negative pressure dressings ask your breast care nurse if they would be suitable. My wound has come on in leaps and bounds. They draw infection out as well as bring blood vessels to the surface to promote and speed healing.
