Biopsy pain

Hi

I am very new to this - first post. I had a mammogram a few weeks ago and got called last Monday to attend for more tests last Friday, thinking it would be another mammogram - WRONG. After 6 more mammograms they decided to do biopsies, all of which went well and I was not too faised as the staff were brilliant and offered good support, suggesting that the calcification found was only picked up due to the digital machines and that they were not particularly concerned. Slightly achey but no probs until last night and have had quite severe cramp like pain in the whole breast - any thoughts??

Get results next Monday, but feel really positive that nothing will come of it - just want this pain to go.

Thanks for listening.

Hi Nuttynana,

Sorry you are having to post here, but hopefully you will get good results next week. Most of us here have been through the core biopsy stage and it can be painful for quite a few days afterwards. It certainly was for me and I bruised quite badly.
It does pass though and I felt that it was worth the temporary discomfort to find out what was going on!

Anyway good luck and fingers crossed for great news for you!

Thanks Wandy

I thought I had been really fortunate - other than slight discomfort all was well! I have no problem about putting up with the pain if it is ‘normal’ - just wanted to check out others have had similar happen to them. Much appreciated that you helped me understand it is - just pleased they have identified any problem early, and fingers crossed it will be nothing.

These forums really do help to normalise things and let you know you are not alone. It can be a pretty scary time.

Thanks again.

Hi

I had biopsies in nov and still suffer the odd twinge if i’m lying on that side, so nothing to worry about.

good luck.x

Same here, and the bruising can be really spectacular! A couple of paracetamol should help knock it on the head. I was told to avoid ibuprofen and aspirin because they make bruising more likely as they thin the blood, so paracetamol’s your chum for this one. If you had several biopsies it’s not surprising your poor boob is protesting.

Hi

Just to say a big thanks for the reassurance. I am keeping this very much to myself at the mo and really playing it down - have a total worry bug for a hubbie, who I love dearly, but who if I was showing my emotion to would need to be giving him support!! Not too sure how I am really feeling!!!
