Dear ivanova, welcome to the BCC forums

Hi Ivanova, sorry that you are awaiting results. The waiting is the pits and you will need to keep busy until your next appointment and definately don’t go on Google because it will just give you unecessary worry. It is a very emotional time, try and confide in a trusted friend or relative. If that’s not possible speak to the Helpline on here. They are very good and know best. Please remember that you are doing all the right things and most lumps especially in young women don’t turn out to be BC. Breast cancer care has moved on in leaps and bounds in the past 20 years and its treatable. You take care, you will be in my thoughts and prayers. Hugs Kathy x

Hi Ivanova, like Kathy has said the waiting bit is worst bit. Once you know what you are dealing with you will be more in control. Try and keep busy and have some reassurrance the Doctors and nurses will be doing their best for you.
This website is very helpful,so try to stick to,this or the Macmillan one. The nurses can be reached by telephone and it does not matter if you have no questions but just need to talk to someone so use them. Take care, Katy.

Hi Ivanova. Like the others have said, the waiting really is the worst part. Try to keep yourself busy and not dwell on what the results might be…easier said than done, I know!

Statistically, most breast lumps in younger women aren’t cancer but I know you’ll still be worrying that it might be. When do you get your results?

I also have no history in th family but have just had a mammogram and needle biopsy as I discovered a small lump on my breast. I have a really bad bruise as I bruise easy. Doc said I would have to wait approx 2 weeks for results but here I am 3 days later and just taken a call from the breast care nurse. My appointment for th results is on Tuesday could this b bad news already. Really worried now :-/

Hi Ivanova, I am also 29 and a couple of months ago had a biopsy taken. I know that it can be a very anxious and worrying time. I went through the same thing when I was 20, the lump turned out to be a fibroadenoma which I had removed. Turns out that I have another fibroadenoma now and was told yesterday that I will have an operation in October to remove it as it has grown quite a bit since May. I felt a bit calmer this time round getting my results having experienced it before, thinking ‘what will be will be’ and trusting that you’re in the hands of professionals.
I think it’s important to keep distracted and to get on with your life as best as you can, make sure that you talk to friends and family so that you’re supported. Don’t keep your anxieties and worries to yourself, it really helps to share it. I’m feeling anxious and worried about my operation but it was good to speak to friends about it so they know what I’m experiencing. This forum is something I just discovered today but it’s so comforting to know that other women are going through the same thing that I can relate to. Stay strong xx
