Thank you Dawn. I can’t tell if there is an ulcer down my throat or a regular sore throat. It comes and goes…yesterday didn’t have it and the day before that I did. I find my bedroom is comfy when we go to bed (i am soooo hot natured) then in middle of night no air is stirring and I wake up so hot…then morning it gets cool again. my hubby said it is change in wind direction over sea… dunno but it does wake me up and I wonder if it attributed to sore throat.
Congrats Lynne on getting your 2nd session out of the way. You are now 1/3 way through - so well done to you. Hope you are feeling a bit better when you read this and the queasiness has gone. Take your tablets and hopefully will help.
Congrats on completing number 2, I completed number 2 yesterday, and not to many side effects.
As for the hair had it all clippered last Monday, and did wear the cold cap yesterday, as seems most of the hair has come from the crown, and can wear bandannas to cover that.
How you feel about hair loss is part of your personal journey I am glad to see others have offered advice.
I think I was helped by an amusing situation when it came to losing my hair.
I had wild thick hair and as it started to drop out I covered my head with a hat.
One day about three weeks after my first Chemo I got into my car and because of the heat wound down the window and took off my hat. Woosh! a whole clump of my hair disappeared out of the window. I was fortunate enough to see the funny side after all some lucky bird could use the hair for nest building!
I can’t advise on how to keep your hair, I just learned how to tie scarfs in creative ways and I was pleasantly surprised how many people at work commented on my creations. When my hair did come back I discovered short hair really suited me and have kept it short ever since, everyone I know says how much better it looks.
Hi Lynne
Just had 1st of my next chemo Taxotere today and so far feel fine i think this one kicks in after a few days, i am just a little high on steroids. I have had 4 EC with cold cap and hair still doing quite well, but i have shoulder length hair so what has come out is from underneath so not too noticable. I gave up cold cap today as started to dread it, i had to have central line in on Monday as veins had packed in and felt cold cap was added stress now for me, but felt much happier. I dont know how Tax will be on my hair but will wait and see, still washing, blow drying and straightening every other day i think if it loose it will come out whatever.
I hope it still goes well for you Lynne, take it easy
Rachel
so for being so crap at responding, haven’t logged on for a few days so missed your post!
I’m glad your meeting went ok, as did chemo yesterday. I had chemo yesterday too, and felt really really sick all afternoon and evening which is extremely unusual for me! Anyhoo, I feel a million times better this morning and hope you do too. Thats another one down eh!
I didn’t go for the cold cap myself, wanted to be in and out as quick as poss! So, my hair came out properly 2 days after my second accelerated Epi. It was really getting on my nerves a few days before so I literally ended up sticking my head over the bath, getting the shower hose and rinsing it 'til it all came out. I was gutted when it had finally all been washed away but was grateful at the same time as immediately my head was no longer sore.
May I recommend to all E45 shampoo. I didn’t even know they did it!!! I discovered it in my local Boots but haven’t seen it in Superdrug or anywhere else. It is awesome and I have used it throughout. It is a dry scalp shampoo but is great for all of us, even if you don’t have a dry scalp. My hair is now growing back and I am still using it. It’s soooooo gentle. I was advised to steer clear of baby shampoos as they contain surprisingly harsh ingredients apparently! So, I didn’t have a clue what to use, until I discovered that good old E45 actually do a shampoo. You’ll find it around the T-Gel and anti-dandruff type shampoos. A little pricey but worth every penny I reckon!
Thanks for the advice, was just about to go out and purchase baby shampoo tomorrow as Im gonna go for the washing of the hair - and i just know the lots coming off. Its been so hard the last few days just coming out every where i turned.
Il let you know how I get on.
I am sorry you felt crap yesterday, but like me you feel better today. Just read your other post and wondered if your boyfriend was a die hard newcastle fan, its only about 30 mins from me but unfortunaltey I dont support them!LOL
Glad your hair is strating to come back though I just want this bloody thing over with, Im sick of it!
Anyhow, take care
Love Lynne.x
P>S have you heard from tracy lately, she hasnt been on hear either?
I haven’t heard anything of Tracy for at least a week, I hope she’s doing ok. I may try to PM her I think.
Yeah, my boyfriend is a die hard Newcastle United fan! Unfortunately for him though he never gets to see them anymore as we now live in Shropshire and haven’t been back to his families in Newcastle since I was diagnosed in Mar. His mates keep giving him match day programmes though which is good and I bought him the new shirt!
I hope the washing of your hair goes well! I defo recommend E45 shampoo though rather than baby shampoo.
