bone mets

i was diagnosed in sept 2008 with bone mets i started hormonal therapy femara and will be starting zometa. i feel perfectly fine no pain, had a few hot flashes but thats it i read that so many people who hav ethis are in horrible pain cant walk, etc… i can do everything is this normal.?

Hi laurie

Very normal, not to worry  I was diagnosed with bone mets (3 weeks after primary dx) in August 2006, and have been on Femara ever since. Six months of Zometa helped me when I had trouble from a hip met - pain got worse then suddenly improved - and I’m now on bisphosphonate tablets instead. I get a few aches but NO problems with mobility. Hope you continue to do well!

Hi Laurie

I’m on Femara and bondrant, have a few aches, stiffness, hot flushes but also had ovaries removed when changed to Femara so it could be this as well. I was taking Tamoxifen previous to this and had no side effects whatsoever, lucky me I know lol.

Take care

Me too thankfully. Femara and Ibandronate are good on the whole, same as Tamoxifen and Ibandronate. Hot flushes, bit of weight gain but really I have no excuse not to get off my backside and go for a good long walk! I’m just a bit lazy.

And me too…I was diagnosed with bone mets in 2003 and still take no pain killers etc…Take Care, Belinda…xx

…ummm I wish, I’m maxed out on pain killers, and it breaks through them at some point each day. Iused to walk a lot and play badminton regularly, now I can only go on short slow walks - but at least I can walk, and at point I couldn’t, so trying not to grumble about that. The worst thing is the tiredness - havn’t been able to get up these past few days earlier than 12.00 and sometimes i am walking and falling asleep.

My brother got taken into hospital yesterday, and as he lives a 5 hour drive away, I have absolutely no way of getting there. Certainly couldn’t drive that far, and husband and children far too busy to go on train with me.

I was diagnosed with bone mets in January 2006 and so far have had no pain, just the occassional stiffness sometimes when I get out of bed, but it only lasts for a matter of seconds. I take Bondronat and although I am currently having chemo for a local recurrence, I have been on Femera and will go back on it again shortly, after this chemo has finished.

Regards

Linda
