Booked a place on the Younger Women’s Together event in Cardiff but worried about going alone?
Considering booking a place but not sure?
Every year we receive queries from women, including concerns about coming along to the event on their own. Feedback from previous events has said how helpful it was to talk before the event.
This thread is a chance for you to say hello and “meet” others attending the Younger Women Together. I will check in regularly and if you have any questions do let me know and I will do my best to answer them.
My name is Jo and I’m going to the event in Cardiff next weekend. I’ve just finished chemo and about to start radiotherapy. I’m looking forward to meeting other people with a shared experience - and having some fun! I’m particularly looking forward to the laughter workshop!!
I’m interested to hear who else is planning on going.
Hello everyone…I’m Louise and I’ll be attending the Cardiff event next weekend. I finished radiotherapy in August and am 2 months into my Tamoxifen treatment. Looking forward to meeting some amazing women, sharing our stories and being Inspired
I’m Sarah and I’ve got my final round of chemo on the Monday after the BCC event. Still got surgery and rads to go (as well as 10 years of hormone pills, etc!). I’m looking forward to the surgery workshop in particular as I’m still feeling confused about surgery options with my operation date looming in early December.
I’ll be getting the train from Temple Meads on the Friday morning if anyone is coming from through Bristol and fancies a chat on the train.
I am currently 7 weeks post surgery and just started my second round of chemo. I am looking forward to meeting everyone at this event and be able to share experiences with each other.
I have found that there are not only physical but emotional barriers that I did not anticipate and hoping that I come away finding ways to handle them, along with in any way I can, be of support and laughter for others in similar situations.
I’m really looking forward to this event, but quite nervous also - I find that since all my treatment I’m very anxious and nervous around a lot of people. I know it’ll fine ultimately
Hi I am attending the event in Cardiff next weekend. I started treatment in October and had chemotherapy, surgery and radiotherapy and am now back in work and on zoladex and tamoxifen. Be nice to see you all.
Hi Everyone, my name is Karen. I have undergone surgery last December, chemo and finished my radiotherapy in August. After radiotherapy I started taking Tamoxifin. I have been off work since last December but I am returning in a few weeks but part time.
Looking forward to meeting everyone and sharing experiences.
Hi again, I forgot to say I will be travelling by train from Cwmbran if anyone is travelling from this area and would like to travel with me let me know.
I will also be attending on 3rd Nov. I finished my radiotherapy treatment last week and had my first Zolodex.
As it is an implant do they take it out before they administer the next dose? Didn’t think to ask at the time as it was all happening so fast & uncomfortable ?
Hi ladies
I would be really interested to chat with others who’ve experiences chronic pain in chest/thoracic since their Mastectomy.
Looking forward to meeting you all.
Hussana…I totally agree about the emotional barriers. I’ve found these the most difficult, especially when they spring up from nowhere! I’ve been seeing a counsellor, through my hospital, and she’s been great at helping me process each step. I think next weekend will provide a great deal of validation for us all, and realisation that we’re not on our own x
Hi everyone. I’m sarah and I’m coming next weekend. I’m coming up from swansea. Its been 2 years tommorow from my diagnosis. Had a mastectomy and chemo. Herceptin for a year. Finished all that in March this year. And am now on tamoxifen and zoladex. Looking forward to meeting everyone mostly to talk to other like minded ladies who share my anxieties and worries and also my joy in still being alive!!! I’m thankful for that every day.
So nice to hear from you all and all the different experiences, which I’m sure we’ll share more over the weekend.
I’m Sue from Cardiff. I was diagnosed in Aug 2016 and have gone through chemo, surgery, radiotherapy and recently had my ovaries removed to make me post-menopausal. I’ve just started on Letrozole. I’m thinking of returning to work next Spring, and quite scared about it!!!
