On 1st may I have my masectomy with a silicone implant (or whatever they call it)reconstruction at the time. This means I will smaller on one side until the other side gets reduced and tweaked, so to speak. My good side will be 38dd until that time. How on earth do I wear a bra for this ? Does anyone know where to get one? My mum is a skilled seamstress and can sew padding in on one side to even me up whilst I wait for the other side to be operated on, but. I was thinking of a comfy bra for the weeks after the operation that gives support on the operated side without squishing the good side? Does this make sense?
Hi Horseslave
Whilst you await replies you may find the following link to our ‘Lingerie evenings’ and ‘A confident choice’ booklet helpful:

Hi
I used a genie bra which I bought from BHS - You can step into it if you cannot pull it on overhead. I had mx with immediate implant recon but am/was small busted b/c cup so implant has been a good match. I found it best to wear the crop top type of bra - can get from Sainsburys as well as it didn’t dig into the recon when it was swollen. You can use the foam cup to disguise lack of nipple if this is removed. 8 weeks on from op I have now moved onto a real bra - what bliss - which a mesh type with no underwire (tried these still hurt) - but think this is probably a lot easier for me as small.
Thanks for advice Yvie. I have the problem where I will be 38dd on my good side and smaller on the masectomy side with implant. I was thinking of nipping to m and s to see if they have anything suitable. Got a couple of very soft sports type bras like you suggested. I know I should of gone along to the ‘support’ group this week but that sort of thing fills me with horror.
Hi Horseslave, after my mx and implant reconstruction in January I was 36 D on one side and almost flat on the mx side. I used a softie in sports and post surgery supportive bras. I was given the softie when I left the hospital, and this worked fine. After my first expander fill I was given a little top up breast form as there was less difference between the two sides then, and after my second fill I don’t need a breast form any more.
