Hi blondebomb,
Noo - 34 is young to be going through this
I thought 53 was bad enough.. hope you’re doing ok
Thanks for the recommendations
- zip fronts are always handy over the hook and eye!
And I’m also doing some exercises already in the hope that it makes it easier to just be continuing post surgery
Anything to distract myself from thinking about the surgery itself tbh as I have terrible medical phobias. Just hope I can make myself go to the hospital on my op day

Hi I’m one boobed and size 34b also. I have a couple of post surgery bras from m&s but they are not very comfortable. I now have half a dozen of bralettes from Primark. Little cotton cropped bras that have a slit in the side for pads but I can also squeeze my Primark false boob in. They are very comfy and come in a pack of 2 or 3

Hi I had a single mastectomy in April and the best bras I found were not specially designed. I had quite a big seroma so had a cup size A/B after the first dressing came off. The one that gave me compression under arm (where lymph node was removed) and the shaped cup held everything away from my scar etc. was this one from M and S. I slept in it and everything. Im almost 2.5months on and still not yet fully flat so softies or breast forms are still not comfortable so i just wear this and because the cup is shaped its not that noticeable. Although i am not concerned about appearance (no judgement for those who are naturally) you could wear an insert if comfortable. My best other advice pre op is to think about sleeping support beforehand…I had a terrible first night home post op as hadn’t thought about it and was wrestling with loads of pillows to support me sleeping upright. I ordered support pillows from Amazon and as soon as they came i was much more comfortable. Good luck x x

@annierose thanks - that’s great advice to set it up before going in
I have a beanbag that I hope is going to work as I’ve had a bit of a try out and it can support me at different heights quite well! With extra cushions to hold up my arms. Trying to use what I have, as being self employed this has been quite financially crippling on top of everything else
And that bra does look good with adjustable straps and band /cup choices
Just got to get the courage to go through with it! Feeling pretty anxious now

@wizzer , You can ask the nurses to show you how best to get find a comfortable position using what you have at home. They know not everyone has funds to buy new stuff and know how you can roll blankets, towels etc to provide extra restful support post op. IF your home is not 100% suitable post op let the nurses know before surgery as they may be able to arrange for a slightly longer stay with some extra input from physio etc so you are able to begin to recover well.

Anxious is normal pre op. I’m really comfortable in hospital situations but has a really big wobble just before as there was an unexpected delay once I’d got the theatre reception, I needed a wee and there was nowhere for me to go so I had to use a commode
I’ve since discussed with the hospital that they need a loo down there with their “sip til send” drinking water before surgery protocol.
One step at a time is the only way through this. Just breathe.
If you haven’t got a V pillow then arrange 3 pillows like an A putting the horizontal one on first. If you can put a couple of stitches or a claw clip into the 2 pillowcases at the top to keep them from separating. Then pop another pillow or rolled up towel/blanket under your knees to stop you sliding down as much.

Hi bluetit,
Noo! That’s unnerving just before you go in
I’m feeling a bit better today but getting a worried about the nasty tracer injection for my nodes before going in - sounds worse than the op!
At lhe team know I’m super anxious and that they have to give me maximum pre-surgery sedation drugs as soon as I get there!
Thanks for the pillow tips - I’ll try out a few set-ups before the big day.
I hope you’re recovering ok from your radiation roasting

Thanks @wibbles, to be honest I’ll be quite glad to get out of there asap! I’m lucky that my partner Mark is really supportive and quite useful
so I’ll get him running around for me (he also calls me Wibbles
)
It has made me think that I need to get multiple options prepped for sleeping in case one set up doesn’t work though
I hope you are doing ok
I keep hearing about that but mine was done after I was asleep. I don’t know if that’s just a Scottish thing. It is the reason I’m called bluetit though
The radiation has given me a low battery this week so I’m making sure I don’t overdo it and not running around like a blue bottomed fly as usual.

Bluetit,
ah so it’s not because you’re an avid bird watcher
So you didn’t get the radioactive tracer injection before your op, just the blue dye during surgery?? Sounds a better way..
Take it easy - especially in this heat
