Hi girls, havnt posted for ages, sad to hear that Kit Kat has left us. My oncologist sent me to see my breast surgeon last week, I wasnt really quiet sure why since I dont have any (checking out the lymp nodes maybe). Anyway to cut a long story short, He is now scan ning all of his patients brains as well as the rest of their bodies. All because of ME! He is quiet sure that my brain tumors would have been growing when i was first dx in 2005. (only discovered after massive seizure 18 months later)
My original breast lumps were grade 3 and spread to lymps. The satistics of breast cancer spreading to the brain are very low, which is why they didnt routinely scan Brains as well as Bodies.
I am not sure how many other surgeons are scanning brains, but I hope it becomes part of everyones treatment. I am from Queensland Australia and I just hope they start to do it in the UK too. (or maybe they already do and its us Aussies who are behind?
Anyway I am really well at the moment and my scans after the sterio tactic
(gamma knife) surgery before christmas were good. No new tumors - hooray
