bras

bras

bras HI, I got bra prosthesis today slicone
5 weeks after mastectomy
I did not wear soft one I was given in hospital as wound healed better with nothing but dry dressing over it and then no bra I felt
I am wondering whether to wear this once they put a pocket in my bra
as I fear it will be heavy and sweaty in summer,I was just given one and am not sure how to care for it either
Would I be able just to wear the soft one and can you buy a soft filling
I am 34b and thought of just not wearing bra but other breast sagging I fear after 3 braless months and aged 61.
I would value any advice

hello Ann
i am a year on now from my mastectomy and i wear both my soft one at home or if my chest is sore and my prosthesis at work and when i go out but it really is your choice and what you feel comfortable in my first prosthesis was to heavy for me so i went back to my bc nurse and they got me a lighter one which is much better

hi anne.
i have prosthesis and am a 34D. i bought some bras from Nicola Jane which have pockets in them, once on i do not really feel any different, it is only when i take it off that i can feel the weight.
mine came in a box which had a leaflet telling you how to look after it.
if you wear it next to the skin, you should wash it at night in warm soapy water, i keep mine in my bra with pocket and must admit i don’t feel the need to wash it all the time as it is not touching my skin…don’t always put it in the proper box at night either.
if you wear the softie you may find it rises up because there is no weight to it, could end up lop sided.
there is a swim softie that has a small weight in it but not as heavy as a normal one costs about £20 or so.
good luck.
