I’ve just had a phone call from nhs genetics team and they’ve booked me in for next week for testing!!! It was worth asking for a 2nd opinion!
My oncologist said I didn’t qualify so I did my research with help from chat cpt and showed I did qualify so I asked for a 2nd opinion and they’ve said yes to testing. Saves £800 for private testing as well.
So always advocate for yourself and don’t feel bad asking for a 2nd opinion.
I am quite shocked how one oncologist says no and the other says yes - with something so important. Worries me about any other decisions they make now!

It’s v long winded isn’t it! Yet if I paid private it’s back in 2 days! Apparently the nhs send them off in batches x
I hear ya!! I Iack some (ahem, a lot) of trust. At my initial appointment i asked for a mammogram and was told i was too young. 2 weeks later I have a diagnosis and a mammogram …
Also had 4 different oncologists say very different things with the same diagnosis …
