BRCA support groups

Hello all

I would just like to draw your attention to a couple of support groups that you may not be aware of.

Firstly, BCC will be running a telephone support group from 6 Oct to 10 Nov 08 for those with the BRCA muation who have already been diagnosed.

The other support group is run by the Royal Marsden Hospital on a quarterly basis (although I think last evening’s meeting was cancelled due to lack of attendees) and next meets on Tuesday 7th October and is run for those with the mutation regardless of whether they have been diagnosed or not.

I hope that some of you will be interested in attending one or both of these.

Best wishes
D.

Hi
I can vouch for the usefulness of the BCC phone support group - I was on their first one in the summer!! It sounds abit odd - support over the phone. I was nervous about speaking to perfect strangers over the phone, and slightly unconvinced that it would be any help - but, after initial getting used to how it works, it was fanatastic. I would look forward to it each week, and it really felt good to talk to people in the same boat. We would chat away about anything and everything. The nurse and councellor who also joined in were exceptional at guiding us, and at providing info that we found we wanted during sessions.
If you fancy it - dont delay - give it a try!
Jane

Hi all

Just bringing this to the top of the pile; the Marsden support group is Tuesday 14th for anyone who is interested in attending. It was changed from the 7th.
