Brca1 - Triple negative

Hi all.
I found out 2 years ago I was Brca1+ and opted for preventative surgeries (fallopian tubes removed as part of PROTECTOR study and masectomy). I waited 2 years for my masectomy and opted for a risk reducing, bilateral masectomy with immediate diep reconstruction. I had this on Oct 1st and recovering well.
I have just recieved the histology results from the removed breast tissue - they found a 2mm triple negative, grade 3 ductal carcinoma. Nodes were not taken during surgery as it was meant to be preventative! I had a clear MRI 3 weeks prior to surgery- my consultant reassures me its very early.
I have been refered to oncology to discuss any next steps, anyone been in a similar situation?
Thank you!

We are sorry to hear this. It must be such a worrying time for you.

I would really recommend reaching out to our nurses if you are feeling overwhelmed, or if you have any questions. Sometimes it can just be helpful to talk things through. You can reach them on our free helpline 0808 800 6000, and you can call them as many times as you want or need.

I truly hope you are able to get some answers soon, and that you are able to find support in the meantime.

Thinking of you,

Chloe
