Hi there i have BRCA2 gene. After losing my Mum, I discovered that myself and 2 sisters were positive for the gene. My 2 sisters got Breast Cancer so i had a preventative double mastectomy with Diep reconstruction (Tissue from tummy attached using microsurgery) in 2010, followed by salpo oopherectomy ( ovaries & tubes removed). I did not retain my nipples either. Last night I found a hardish lump the size of a pea in my right breast about 3 inches away from my scars just near my sternum. I am terrified that this is cancer and have been sick all day today (Sunday). When i opted for the double mastectomy i knew there would be aroundca 8% chance of me still getting cancer but with my family and genetic history decided it was the sensible thing to do.
Is there anyone on here who has been through the same as me, who has gone on to develop BC??? Any advice from anyone about this lump and position would be good. My breasts are contructed from my tummy tissue so no mammary glands remain.Due to the surgery and loss of nipples, i have almost no feeling in my breasts…in fact 85% numb so i haven’t really bothered to examine myself until now as i can’t really feel anything. I am going to csll GP 1st thing in morning.
