breast clinic

Finally got my appointment for wednesday so not long left to wait what will happern when i go there as i don’t know i not got letter only had a phone call asking me to go in at 10.30 i carnt wait need to find out what’s going on as sick of the pain and ache when move and lie on my side as sore under armpit and sore on right breast and nipple inverted hopefully get somewhere on wednesday

Hi - I went to the clinic today. I had a mammogram first, then saw the doctor who did an ultrasound and biopsies. They will only do biopsies if they feel they need to. There’s quite alot of waiting so take a good book! I went by myself as happier that way but others have taken friend/ husband. My biopsy results will be back in a week and i think thats about standard.
Lots of luck,

so glad you got your appointment, that must be a big worry off your mind.

as to what happens, all clinics are different. Hopefully yours is a one stop clinic where you first see a doctor who is a specialist. all he does all day is look at boobs and knows them inside out. It is hard for a GP to assess things who has to know a bit about every part of your body, rather than being a specialist.

if its that sort of clinic he will send you straight away for mammogram and then if necessary an ultrasound. If they find anything at all suspicous they will tell you and if they have the facilities you will have either a needle or a core biopsy there and then (piece of cake believe me, and that is coming from someone with a needle phobia) or if the dont have facilities they will book you appointment to have one. If you have all that done on the same day you should then see a doctor or nurse who will explain everything they found, what they think it is and they will give you a day to come back for results.

Just keep remberring. 9 and of 10 bumps are not cancer. Half the biopsies they do are not cancer.

Not long now try not to worry too much about the appointment if your clinic is anything like mine the staff are wonderful & soon put you at ease. You’ll go for a mammo 1st then in to see a consultant who will also do a scan, you may have a needle aspiration or biopsy nothing too bad with them with biopsy they numb you 1st.
They will do one or the other with any lumps regardless if they look suspicious or not they even biopsy lumps that look like they are fibro cysts. Each clinic is different but with biopsy you are usually told to make an appointment for a weeks time to go back for your results. I would strongly recommend you take someone with you when you get your results even if it turns out to be clear the person with you can take in whats being said

Give the helpline here a call if your worried at all

All the best
