Hi everyone,
I have been getting a brown discharge from my right nipple(when sqeezed) and breast pain for a few months now. In January, as I am 51yrs old, I had a routine mammogram, which came back clear. My GP gave me some antibiotics, which did’nt do much and then decided to refer me to the breast clinic.
My appointment for the breast clinic came through for the 9th July and I am now worried sick about it and fearing the worst. I have not told my husband, as he is having mental health problems himself and things are very shaky with us.
My daughter is coming with me but I am frightened. I am nornally a very positive person but I feel out of my depth with this. My dad died in his fifies of cancer and I am worried that I will go the same way.
I know that I am being negative about this but finding it hard to cope with and it might not be cancer.
worried

hi mazzy, i no how you are feeling i am 29 years old and i have breast cancer, just like you i had discharge from my right nipple it was blood stained too but i had no pain, i was really scared too which is perfectly normal, since joining here there has been a lot of support from everyone, as for your husband that is a choice you have to decide which is best for you, i didn’t tell any of my 5 children but they started asking questions, they are really a bit to young to understand but they no, i have explained to them the best possible way. as for now keep your chin up, i no it ain’t easy but you feel better once you no for sure whether it is breast cancer. please keep in touch be thinking of you. Hello there Mazzy,
Sorry to hear you are at a very worrying stage at the mo. As you can see from the message above im going through it at the mo too. Like you i was very very scared before my first visit last month but since going back last week and been told that they are very worried and need to go in for surgery i feel a little different. Somehow im not so scared ( everyone telling me its not hit home yet ). But i really do feel for you sweet but try not to worry too much as you need to get through this as strong as possible.
Take care and keep us up to date on how you get on.
love claire xx
P.S i didnt tell my hubby till the night before i went to my appointment and he only found out as he took phone call from the hospital as i didnt want to worry anyone.
Hi Mazzy
I would just like to say to you to try not to assume you have breast cancer.
I started with a browny discharge from my right breast when i was 37 and was frekaed out. However my mammogram was clear. they said it was hormonal. Does yours happen the week before a period is due assuming you stil have them. Mine used too.
I had the fluid tested and it was not cancer. they said it was probably a wart in the duct. At 41 it occured again and they were goign to take my ducts out ( this is a possibility and something you can request). I did not get it done as it cleared up for a few months.
As you can imagien i was horrified when my left breast changed shape and i had cancer diagnosed at just 44. I have had my ducts removed from the right side and still have my breast which seems ok.
I so so so hope your ok me love let us know.

Hi everyone
Thanks for your replies. Feel a lot better now. A close friend has sat me down and given me a good talking to and made me realise that I may be jumping to conclusions and wait and see what the clinic comes up with.
I don’t want to tell my husband unless its bad news, as his own Mother had a double mastectomy in March at 82yrs old, so you can imagine what he has been through with her. Luckily she is recovering well now.
Its nice to know that there are (friends) on here to talk to, who understand what its like.
Will let you know how I get on at the clinic on Monday
love

Hi Mazzy.
just wanted to add that when I was in having my operation for breast cancer there was a lady oppisite who was having her ducts removed and this was all due to a horrible dischanrge that she had been suffering from for ages - there was no sign of cancer and she went home the day after her op
- hope you get the same outcome as that lady
Hello Mazzy,
