breast lymphoedema

breast lymphoedema

breast lymphoedema I finished my radiotherapy in January this year. In March/April I was found to have lymphoedema in my left breast and upper back (as yet, not in my arm)and hopefully won’t have.

I am going on a trek in the Himalayas in November and then on to Thailand for a beach rest.

Does anyone have any information about lymphoedema at high altitudes (5,500 metres)? This will be over a 3 week period.

My main worries are high altitudes in Nepal and mosquito/insect bites in Thailand; also possibly jellyfish stings.

Does anyone have any information or advice relating to these issues and any other general information about breast lymphoedema?

Advice Hi Wezzy

Welcome to the Forums, I hope you will find them informative and supportive.

Often with detailed inquiries like this our helpline can be the best source of information and support.

You can call the helpline on 0808 800 6000
Monday to Friday 9am-5pm and Saturday 9am-2pm.

The team is able to talk about technical issues surrounding breast cancer and breast health including travel information.

They can talk through the complexities of different treatments and conditions and I am sure you would be able to clarify some of the questions you have.

I hope this helps and please carry on posting to the forums

Best wishes

breast lymphoedema I have already spoken to the helpline I just wondered if anyone had any personal experience of these issues - what with sponsored treks etc.

Basically it seems the knowledge of such things is fairly limited and we are still at the guinea pig stage; so any personal experience would be much appreciated.

Many thanks

Wezzy
