breast pain, can anyone reassure me?

Firstly Hi, i have just registered and wondered if anyone has had this situation…
A year ago i had pain and lumps. After a biopsy i was told i had 2 cysts and a fibroid, all was ok…the pain went.
for over a week now i have had more pain in the same right breast and i’m not sure if the lump is an old one or a new one. I will make am app. with my GP tomorrow but i feel so anxious. Would you say it is highly likely that this is the same lump? Not sure i have made myself clear, i’m feeling a little cloudy in the head right now!!

Dear Katiebelle

Hi Katiebelle
Sorry you are having this worrying time, you are definitely doing the right thing by seeing your gp who will be able to give you good advice & refer you on for any tests that will hopefully be able to put your mind at rest. Try not to think too far ahead & try not to worry too much, easy to say i know, not so easy to do. take care, i’ll be thinking about you tomorrow,
best wishes rivergirl x

hi katiebelle
good luck tomorrow. i will be thinking of u
best wishes

thank you for all your kind words. My doctor thinks this is the same lump from last year and i shouldn’t worry. I’m to keep an eye on it for the next week and then possibly go back. I know it’s mad, but i still feel a little concerned…but thank you all, I wish you all the best of luck with your individual situations,
love Katiebelle xx

Hi Katiebelle,

Just a bit concerned that your GP thinks that it is the same lump from last year - on what basis did he/her make this diagnosis? Wouldn’t the safe option be for your GP to refer you on for further tests to determine whether the lump is anything more sinister than a cyst etc. You are obviously still concerned despite your GP’s assurances and you know your own body more than anyone else. I really think it would be better to ask for a referral and have some more tests to find out 100% for your own peace of mind more than anything. Best wishes, Jacqui

I would agree with Doylej and would ask for a referral to have further tests, if for no other reason than to put your mind at rest. My sister had cysts a few years back and had them drained … sometimes they fill back up and sometimes they don’t. She gets lumps and bumps every now and again and she is always referred … I got one lump, thought I was copying my sister but went one better and had a tumour instead!

hi katiebelle
i would defo ask for a referral just to make sure and to give u peace of mind. i found a lump, doc told me it was a cyst as it was painful but because i moaned at him he sent me to be checked. that cyst turned out to be a 10.5cm tumour. if in doubt get it checked out.
best wishes

p.s katiebelle, when i went to breast clinic the doc there reminded me that my gp is not a specialist in bc and any time i was worried again to demand i get a referral.

Hi Katie,
Hope it turns out to be old cyst but as others say I would def go back to doc and ask for app to get it checked with breast specialists. My lump was painful and doc said prob ok and I went to see consultant had tests etc and although it was small it was still cancer. So please go get it checked
Take care and let us know how you get on.
Always someone here
Dawn X
