Hi i’m new to the forum and wondered if anyone could help me please ive got pain in my right breast just above the nipple but it’s really painful i can’t feel any lumps but the pain is going in my armpit aswell, sometimes i have to lift my arm outwards because it hurts that much , years ago i had a scare in the same breast had tests etc and i was fine so i’m not sure if to see the doctor
or not the pain is a lot different this time though.
i am 45 had hysterectomy 12 yrs ago still got my ovaries, 2 yrs ago got told ive got a cyst on my right ovary ended up on prostap injections for 7 mths and hrt ,so i’m a bit concerned that they might have caused something.
thankyou Kim

I strongly advise you go to your GP. It might be nothing but you need to be examined. None of us can offer reassurance as we dont know whats going on but any abnormalities need looking at. Please keep us posted.

thankyou for replying , ive made an appointment can’t get in till next tues, but she said i could phone on the day if the pain gets worse.
well ive been to see the dr and she got a 2nd dr to check me aswell
my right nipple looks different to the left which i knew this and the pain was awful when they pressed around the nipple, the 2nd dr got me to raise both arms and said the right was inter something, for the life in me i can not remember what she said, they said they would refer me, so i went to the supermarket and i was shocked the surgery phoned me to say ive got an appointment mon at 1.40 omg i know i shouldn’t but i feel ive gone into panic mode, only my son and hubby knows whats going on, ive got 3 daughters and i don’t want them to panic.
Hi Kim
Im glad youve had your initial consultation with GP and that youve had a really quick appt at specialist clinic. I can well remember the feelings that you are going through just now and although the waiting is awful, at least you are on the right path now.
I felt the same as you-I didnt tell anyone except my partner until Id had results.Thought it better not to worry anyone before they had something to worry about!
Best of luck for Monday, We are all here for you

Thankyou Cathie it really means alot, how long ago did you find out and what type have you got etc.
Hi Kim
I was diagnosed on 6th Oct last year and initially it was one tumour (DCIS) so was to have lumpectomy on 15th.Subsequent tests for staging found 4 areas, so I had mastectomy on 30th Oct. I didnt need any chemo/radiotherapy as lymph nodes were clear and am now on 5 yrs of Tamoxifen cos I had a eostrogen positive result.
Im actually doing really well(apart from medication induced menopause!!) and am feeling great.
Looking back, it was scary but do-able, so I hope you find a similar positive journey if you need tratment.
Take care

Hi Kim
Just wondered if the word was ‘interquartile’? may have the spelling wrong!! you will have to google it, but l have heard it used before, something to do with the distance between one section and another, possibly he was talking about your nipple, you said it looks different, possible swelling? These words frighten the life out of you, but he was only saying in his terms, what you already know, so try not to worry too much, good you have an appointment for Monday, seems a long way away, but it will soon come, just try and take it easy, and not overload the brain!
We are all here for you, sadly all been there, fingers crossed for good results.
Take care

I hope you didn’t mind me asking ,i’m so glad you are feeling better it must have been awful for you and your family ? did you have re construction ?
All sorts go through your mind , yes the waiting is awful been here many years ago but it was different and got told it was hormonal, i’m hoping it is but the look on the 2nd docs face tells me different but i no i shouldn’t be thinking like that but can’t help it, ive got a sinking feeling.
Hi Kim
Im all for getting info out there, specially from those of us who have experienced it. I didnt get the option of immediate reconstruction, as they still hadnt rules out radiotherapy (it can mess about with the healing), so I wasnt that bothered.Since then, Ive had my 1st consult with a Plastic surgeon as Im having difficulty with a very tight arm and he could fix that during a recon. So Im on the waiting list…
You are right, there a so many different reasons for breast pain-I had a lump in 2001 which was in other breast and it turned out to be a fibrodenoma-non cancerous Phew!
Anyway, Im still here to tell the tale, thank goodness!!!

thankyou everyone for your support , ive just been to the clinic they did a mammogram which showed fatty tissue and the nurse who examined me said my pain was muscle pain, i am really pleased but just hope they haven’t missed anything, i don’t recall straining myself though.
I feel such a fool but a grateful one lol and i’m going to look after myself and go on a diet because i am over weight by 6 stone for my little 5ft 2in frame.
I want to wish you all good luck in your treatments etc.

Hi Kim
Hopefully you have now been to your GP. I went a year ago and y told mine that I had acute breast pain, She dismissed me and said it was ‘womany’ things. I’ve now just been disgnosed with breast cancer and the mass in the EXACT spot I told her the pain was. I’m angry and upset. Push your GP to do something, and insist on being reffered. Breast pain is not usually associated with cancer, but I would say there is a pretty good case for listening to those of us who experience it. A year ago my treatement would have been much simpler, and now I’m too depressed to even think about it. I hope by now you’re feeling better. Take care x x
Hi Heidz
Thankyou for posting ive been back to my GP since my clear mammogram and she was surprised that they didn’t notice any dimpling in my right nipple and when i raise my arm it dents in partly in one spot,i said to her i was examined after my mammogram and the bcn said my breast were all marked from the xray and i was surprised at my age they didn’t do an ultrascan ? she said it could just be how my breast are but if i get any lumps or bleeding to go back, the pain has gone but i still get pain in my armpit most day’s.
I’m at the gynae tues about my cyst probably have a scan and bloods again, they won’t remove my ovaries because it’s harder after you’ve had an hysterectomy and my was 12yrs ago, ive had enough now cos ive suffered with this for over 2 yrs, ive had every test going that they’ve wanted me to have even had prostap injections for 7 mths and boy they make you feel rough i even gave in after 3 mths and went on hrt or my hubby would have killed me lol i was awful and couldn’t control myself i turned into this evil woman so not me.
I had an xray a few wks back for my hips that come back ok i think the pain is from my cyst because it’s mainly my right side.
I couldn’t check your profile to see how you found out with yours , hope you don’t mind me asking how you did ?
I’m not convinced theres nothing wrong but not much i can do,can’t talk to my family regarding my worries but ive lost my father to lung cancer my auntie who is 83 has breast cancer she kept it a secret for over 10 years,my mum said when the doc checked her they were both so shocked she was a mass of open flesh and no boobs ,she is receiving treatment and looks like a muummy with all her bandages lol she even say’s that, she takes it all in her stride, and in all this my mum got dx with lung cancer last year, so him up there is not being nice to my family.
I’m really sorry ive gone on alot it’s been building up inside and i’m probably making myself feel ill with it all, i hope i don’t offend anyone because i don’t have bc but i do still come on here and read some post, you are such a lovely bunch of ladies .
