Will be having a WLE with a SLB on the 8th may area to be removed is 16mm and being a small chested girl I’m wondering if anyone has any idea if I will have to use an insert in my bra after surgery I am assuming there will be a sizeable dent as after 3 children there really isn’t much tissue there or would a ordinary padded bra be enough? The area is at the top of my breast thanks for any help you can give me four weeks till surgery too much time to think:)
I had a wle and my lump was 49 mm so quite large and they got clear margins so I assume more tissue than just the lump was removed and I honestly cansee see a noticeable difference just a very neat scar! When I lie down it is more noticeable but nothing major. I am just wearing the bras i had before surgery so very lucky really and a very good surgeon! X
I had a WLE of 8cm, and really looked pretty good … unfortunately when I returned to see the surgeon, after telling me how pleased she was with the appearance, the next thing she said was that they had not got clear margins on two sides, and due to the size of the tumour she recommended Mastectomy … and could I come in the next day!!!
Bummer!!! LOL
Oh, what I meant to post was that the cavity normally fills in with seroma which solidifies and that’s why you often don’t get too much of a dent in the end!
Thank you girls just silly things I think about when I have too much time hoping they get enough margin will possibly opt for a mx if they don’t get it first time, appearance not really important I am 53 and hardly likely to begin a career as a topless model Morwenna (lovely name by the way) I hope all goes well for you please keep us updated and jlr gonna get me some gorgeous bras!! X
I had a WLE for a 19mm tumour with clear margins, you can’t tell at all apart from the scar (I’m a c cup) and I wear normal bras x
I also had a WLE for a 15mm tumour, then a cavity shave to get wider margins. I have a very neat scar and no disfigurement at all. I went back to wearing normal bras very quickly. I have an average bust size.
My surgeon told me she had filled the cavity with bits of spare tissue from the surrounding area.
Hi Loobyb I am also having WLE mine is on 9th May also ANC. I was wondering what I would look like after surgery, suppose we will have to wait and see. To be honest its the ANC and drain that is concerning me more. I plan to buy some lovely new bras after this is all over!
Hope all goes well for your operation.
Take care
x
I had a WLE for a 15mm tumour with clear margins. I’m petite with a 32C bust. My surgeon pulled in some surrounding tissue to fill the gap and the scar runs in the crease under the bust. When I look in the mirror I can’t see any difference between them … apart from the fact that one is still a bit blue! How long does it take for that blue dye to fade?
Border Collies, it took about 10 months to a year for my blue dye to fade x
