Breathing difficulties with a cold

Hiya,

Any advice? I’ve started with a cold, this is the first time I’ve been “ill” after starting treatment for HER2 breast cancer in January 2025. I had in all 22 lots of chemo, (4 EC, 4 Docetaxel, 14 Trastuzumab Emtansine) 10 lots of radiotherapy, 2 lumpectomies (they didn’t get it all the first time) numerous scans, and ongoing Zoledronic Acid. Anyway.. I seem to have started with a cold and I’m having some difficulty breathing. I get very breathless when I’m doing anything physical such as housework and also when I’m walking the dogs, I’m struggling to take a full breath. Anyone else experiencing this?

Thanks, Tracey xx

Please get in touch with your GP and ask your treatment team for advice as well . Hopefully this will pass soon and the breathlessness It may be treatment related and it may not . I only had radiotherapy and struggled with fatigue afterwards and on 2 occasions since having I’ve struggled with fatigue after viral illnesses at a level I’ve not had before I had radiotherapy . It’s also possible to develop asthma later in life - I developed mature onset asthma in my late 30s . Also if you can find one do a COVID test in case it’s that - you may be eligible for free anti- viral treatment and COVID does cause breathlessness. There are some very nasty cold viruses around right now though - I have a friend who is normally very active who has one and can’t do much of anything right now . Hope you feel better soon. Xx
