Breathlessness

Hi does anyone suffer from breathlessness on Capecitabine. I am doing ok on this drug but I am suffering from breathlessness just wondered if anyone else has the same problem.

Love Sue:smileyfrustrated:x

Hi Sue, I had 14 cycles of Capecitabine (just stopped due to progression to liver) and did find by the last few cycles that I had become breathless at times. I have been anaemic too though so that might have contributed. Make sure you mention it to your team though just in case.
Best wishes

Hi,sue,I’m very breathless on cap. So much as I couldn’t get breath yesterday and got very upset when I went upstairs as had to fight for breath.

Yes, I’m quite breathless too, especially on the last day of Cap and 2/3 days after. I’m feeling quite relieved as I have high blood pressure and my GP has tried 4 different Tablets. The 3rd made me much more breathless, so much so that I got quite worried. Now on tablet number 4 and I have much more energy and breath, although Cap still affects it. It’s hitting our white blood cells and making us anaemic so it’s not surprising, but horrible still the same.

Hello Sue, I am on Cap. Have just had a 7 wk rest from it because of severe breathlessness and tiredness after 7 cycles (gradually building up). Been back today for Onc appointment and offered choice of staying off Cap and being regularly monitored or going back on Cap. I opted to go back on Cap, but at a reduced dose (3600mg instead of 4000mg). Haven’t got pills this wk though as they have to order them in, so I have an extra week off. If necessary I can always ask for more time off later if it gets bad again. Don’t forget, the Oncs are generally good and listen to what you want. Hugs and good luck. Barton.x

Hi Bazcas… i too have breathlesness with cap. Often get really worried that its being caused by something else more sinister so in an odd way glad to hear others have the same problem.x
