Broadening our word power

Just a thought, could we set up a new thread that spreads a little local knowledge? I reckon most the country and some places abroad are covered by this forum so we will have plenty to add.
I have an interest in local ‘slang’ of Nottingham and would like to hear of colloquialisms from around the country.

For instance the word

MARDY - means cry babyish

or

TWITCHELL - an alley between houses

No doubt we share some but would anyone like to add to this?

BOSH - sink (south wales slang)

SNAP / SNAPPIN

Packed lunch (Stoke-on-Trent).

DRECKLY
will do something in a minute (Cornish)

to be NESH

To feel the cold (Stoke)

PISHTY (someone under the thumb - wales)

IF YOU ARE HARD ON YOU ARE FAST ASLEEP

LANCS

A SHADE is another name for a hairparting in Belfast

Hi folks, thanks for all those new words I just put this together to try and practice my new found language.
My old man is PISHY, when ever I tell him to do something he always says he is busy but will DRECKLY. But I tell him to get to the BOSH and stop being MARDY.
Before going to work I tell him to make his SNAP and check his SHADE because I like him to look smart. I also remind him to wrap up warm because he is NESH - linsyloo I just could bring myself to use yours!

Keep’m coming folks

Cheers

Carol
