Hi,
Have seen this topic before but can’t find it searching, can anyone give some details regarding this syndrome? In the last couple of months am experiencing tingling in the lips and tongue, it’s not painful but feels unusual. The posts I had read before I’m sure were related to chemo, I have not had chemo, so would be really grateful for any suggestions or advice, thank you xx
bumping forgot to say taking tamoxifen xx
I have Burning Mouth Syndrome and was diagnosed about 2 years ago after 2 years on Letrozole, I had already had 5 years of Tamoxifen and was diagnosed with BC in 2003. Apparently 1 in 3 postmenopausal women get it and from what I have read its due to lack of Oestrogen so I guess Letrozole must be doing its job.
I started off by talking to my GP and he referred me to an Oral clinic who then does blood tests to see if it could be anything else.
My lips feel like they are burning, can’t wear lipstick as lips look like they are peeling, sores at corners of mouth and mouth dry but the mouth looks normal even though it feels like there are ulcers there.
Hazel
Hi Hazel, thank you for replying, have been on holiday, that’s why I have not responded sooner, have also heard it’s due to lack of oestrogen, have no pain just this tingling feeling, do you get anything for it?? or do you just live with it? 1 in 3 that’s a huge percentage of women, had never heard of it before apart from on this forum. Go to dentist regularly so know it’s nothing to do with teeth etc, does it get worse?? or does it stop?? would be grateful for any advice xx
