I really need to ditch loads of my bras - I’ve been wearing the same soft bras since I had lumpectomy surgery in 2006 as they are so comfy, and on my “sore” days I resort to sports bras. Not exactly the most sexy of garments but they do the job. I despair of these grey comfy bras in the drawer, not exactly pin up material for my OH lol.
I feel I should be getting into nice bras again, but I hate anything underwired (found underwiring a bit uncomfortable before I had BC, now anything with wiring can irritate my scars). I have another drawer full of stuff like Triumph and Berlei that I haven’t been able to wear and it’s all beautiful
I just want something comfortable, nice and not too expensive that supports me. I’m a 36C / 38B depending on the make. As I’m a 14 - 16 I like a fairly deep side as well. Has anyone been shopping and found something that might fit the bill? I’m getting really fed up rooting through bras in the shops and coming away with nothing. I’d be grateful if you ladies could push me in the right direction as I am fed up on the undie front. I have even considered the Triumph “Doreen”, but they look so old fashioned.
Hi Cherub, I too have been going around in unattarctive but comfy greying bras . As I have breast lymphodema thought I was going to have to wear hideous undergarments akin to a straight jacket.
However, I have found the "total support " range in Marks and Spencer excellent, good for everyday bras and also thank goodness a range in shocking pink,purple ,blue and yellow, hurrah ! No offence to any Grannies but I don’t want to be wearing old granny bras,nice to have a bit of colour. We have a medum sized M n S and it had a very good range and I made sure I got re measured etc etc. Happy shopping !
I bought some non wired bras just after I found my lump which were ok to wear after my WLE & SNB.
Since having MX & LD recon they have not been that comfy & I have been struggling to wear a bra for the whole day although I know it helps with recon.
However I went to M&S yesterday & had some great assisitance from them, I did ask about their post surgery bras but these are really designed for anyone who has had MX only, they showed me their ‘total support’ range and after trying the first one on I knew I had found the ‘one’.
I have had this bra on all day today & I am still comfy, for anyone who has had LD recon they are extremely comfy around the side where the muscle has been brought around. They also come in a range of styles & colours.

I have spent a lot of time trying to find comfortable but feminine bras after my WLE & SNB. Being a 30F / 32E means that the vast majority of bras are wired which are just too uncomfortable.
Everywhere seems to think that sports bras are the solution but the shape isn’t right under normal clothes and they aren’t exactly feminine.
I must get round to writing to complain about M&S as their suggestion was that maternity / breastfeeding bras where the way forward - extremely upsetting as I had told them why I wanted a non wired bra & then to be expected to wear a maternity bra when the treatment causes fertility issues…
Anyway, John Lewis were extremely helpful if slightly limited on stock. Perfect Fit in Keynsham managed to find one white granny style bra, but if I had been a more normal size then the choice would have been much wider. The best so far for comfort is Royce (some lines stocked by John Lewis). All the bras are wire free - not really pretty - but better than a sports bra.
Oh and I did phone bravissimo (specialises in D+ cup sizes) but they said their suppliers felt there was no demand for pretty non wired bras in small back sizes but larger cups.
Apparently lots of people phone about this issue and they keep passing the comments onto their suppliers.
After having a WLE/SNB, I have found the most suitable bras for me are M&S non-wired T-shirt bras. They have smooth, padded, moulded cups which do not give away the fact that I have a bit missing! I don’t think they come in large sizes, though. I ordered mine on their website and had them delivered to my local store, because often they do not have the full range in-store.
They also do some prettier non-wired bras in various sizes and colours.
Thanks for all your suggestions - we’re taking a week off from work end March, so I will have some time to have a good look at all these. I’m just looking for something comfy that creates a nice shape and looks attractive.
I have just checked out Royce and although they are plain, they are actually quite pretty. My nearest John Lewis is Edinburgh so I might check out whether they stock them so I can have a look. I like to have matching or co-ordinating knickers where possible as it just makes me feel better.

Have you tried ASDA? I got one for £6 and its great!!Comfy with deep sides and washes up smashing. I got mine on line as its a nightmare trying to sort thru the store, as the post surgery packs look just like other ranges. But avoid the bra with wee dots as it dos’nt fit as well and its padded slightly.

Hi all - I’m not having any issues using underwired M&S T-shirt bras I feel that the wires are well placed and miss my SNB scar which still hurts like a sore thing (surgery was last Sepetember). I am not sure what the best thing is for rads but I will suck it and see what happens. I’m a 32E so I do need some support.

I am same size and find M&S bras a lovely fit, both wired and non-wired. The colours and designs are lovely and change every few weeks, so although only a choice of about 6-8 bras, next time you go shopping you find a couple of different ones. They even have a lovely tiger print one at the moment!!
My argument with M&S is that they don’t do matching pants, and they ‘hide’ their surgery bras away at the back of shop as if they are ashamed of the. It is then hrad, especially if you are buying them first time, and have to ask, instead of being able to browse discreetly!
