Can anyone help i had grade 2 breast cancer which i had a lumpectomy and then radiotherpy x20 in 2009 just had my first mamogram and it as come back showing calcifications in a different area of the breast i’m really worried it could be cancer again. Does anyone know if it is possible to come back so soon i have an appointment for a by opsy on thursday really worried.

Sorry but yes it can. I had a lumpectomy in November 2008 and despite having an MRI which showed nothing I had a mammogram in April 2009 which showed micro calcifications in a different area of the same breast. This turned out to be early dcis.
I was told this is highly unusual - so please don’t worry as yours may be nothing. The positive thing is that they have found it and it will be so early that treatment will almost certainly be straightforward and highly effective.
I had a mastectomy when the second area was found as I have small breasts and a second lumpectomy was not viable. No radio or chemo needed and once I had the mastectomy they even said I didn’t need the tamoxifen any more.
