Calcifications & invasive ductal cancer

Just a quick post as there aren’t many recent forums on this subject
I was recalled from my standard 3 year mammogram mid April to be advised that I had calcifications & that they wanted to do a biopsy just to make sure as in some cases it can be early stage cancer. I ended up having 2 separate biopsies & it was idc grade 3. There are 2 areas of calcifications but the biopsies were from the larger area
Last week I had a wle to remove both areas of calcifications & also 2 sentinel lymph nodes removed. Pathology results due 4th July to determine next stage of treatment
What I’m trying to say is without the mammogram picking up the calcifications, I wouldn’t have known I had invasive cancer & in a few years things could be a lot different. Every cloud…x

Absolutely Jude. That was my experience too.
So glad I went for that mammo, as I very nearly didn’t. I had no idea there was a problem & if it wasn’t picked up when it was…?
Well, after processing it all, I was just so relieved my bc was picked up & screening had done its job.

Hi Ann
If you don’t mind me asking what treatment did you have?
There aren’t many forums on this subject so I’m keen to know a little more
Thanks x

Hi Ruth
Thanks for your info - obviously you had a big op with an mx & reconstruction, did you have to have any other treatment?

Hi Jude,
I had a wle, snb - 2 nodes removed, radiotherapy & put on tamoxifen as my bc was er+ & discharged back to the surgeon for 5 year follow up.

Hi Ann
Thanks for that, I do know that every case is different but it’s useful to know what treatment others have had - I’m trying to prepare myself for chemo in case I need it
