hi ladies, been a while since I posted on here, but looking for some advice please. I went for my 2nd year mammo yesterday and there was something seen on the mammo, they couldnt find it on ultrasound scan as its directly under my scar, so i have to go for a biopsy on monday, they said, on the posative side, it could be calcium deposits, has this happened to anyone? Any info would be great, I was originaly diagnosed with grade 3 trip neg, 2.5cm, lumpectomy, senitel node involved all others clear, good margins, chemo(tac) and radiotherapy.
Thanks
mandy
Hi,
A couple of years back I had to have a vacuum assisted biopsy because they could see something on mammo. It turned out to be calcification, which I guess is the same thing as calcium deposits. No further action was taken as they said this was something that sometimes happens after breast op and was viewed as benign, any changes would be noted in future mammos. They like to do biopsy to check and see what is going on.
I think BCC have info on calcification.
Hope this helps you feel a little less anxious
Best wishes, Julie
Hi Mandy
Nit had this experience however from a screening point of view calcifications are fairly common problem… Mostly they are benign but it can also be a sign of dcis… Very often we cannot tell which it is till we do a biopsy… Fingers crossed yours are th benign type.
