Hello x I am new to the site so please bear with me! I have just had a double mastectomy and reconstruction using the LatD method. I had my op last Thursday which lasted nearly 11 hours and returned home Wednesday. I am really struggling to get any sleep, not just because of the discomfort but think it may be due to the Antibiotics that i have to take for two more days. I have a really sore right hand side which really hurts when i move - it is just below my right boob but actually on the side, just above my hips? Has anyone else experienced this?
Just a little bit of my background - I was first diagnosed with BC 14 years ago and thought that it was all done and dusted after chemo, radio and 5 years Tamoxifen. During a routine mammo Dec 09 it was detected that i had cancer in my other breast so went through the chemo & radio all over again. This time I was given the option of having the mastectomies and recon so jumped at the chance. I have also since had confirmation that have the faulty BRCA1 gene so was right to make the decision! Hope someone can help 
Hi Bustersmum,welcome to the forums, sorry I can’t help with your problem so bumping it up so someone else will come along and give you some advice, you could try ringing the helplines they are very good.

hi bustersmom, all i can say is it is very early days after surgery and whilst we are under anaesthetic the surgeons arent always gentle with us 11 hours is a long surgery they probably pulled you and moved you so this could all be part of that,if it continues ring your breast nurse am sure she will put your mind at rest take care x
