can anyone help with this please

I am due to have my second mammogram in January 2008. Starting to feel jittery already.
I have written personal letters to my loved one’s this week only to be read after my death. I have also written a Eulogy for my funeral!!!
I feel I have to do this in case it is bad news.
I know I am feeling a little down at the moment as I have had a chest infection which has been with me for four weeks. I have a few good days then I seem to be back at square one.
I am thinking of seeing my G.P. this week but should I ask for a flu jab. I have not been told I need one. If I were to catch anything else on top of this chest infection I would surely be a gonna.
I didn’t catch anything last winter and I had just finished chemotherapy.
Will my immune system come back to what it was?
How long does it take.
I prefer not to take anything and let my body heal itself although after my lymph gland removal I had an infection which put me on loads of antibiotics for weeks.
Any advice from you ladies would be welcome.
Take Care,
Jugsy

Hi Jugsy,
Sorry you’re feeling down, having any tests can be really stressful after all we’ve been through.
Apparently the flu vaccine isn’t live so is safe for us to have. Just to be sure you might speak to your BCN or Gp. I asked my Gp and she said go for it , so I’m having mine this week. Mind you I haven’t had a chest infection, and you would have to get over that completely first, I would have thought. Rest assured they wont mind you asking and won’t encourage you to have the jab if it 's not in your best interests!
Good Luck
Margaret

Dear Jugsy

Remember you can always call the Breast Cancer Care helpline and talk to someone in confidence about how you are feeling and any questions you have. The staff here are all either breast care nurses or people who have personal experience of breast care issues. The number to call is 0808 800 6000 the lines open Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm and Saturdays 9am - 2pm. I hope this is of some help to you.

Best wishes
Katie

Hi Jugsy

I have just had my 2 year mammogram last week. ( See post above yours!)

I was petrified of going but I comforted myself with the fact that I had a mammogram last year and it was clear so if anything was there it would be very early stage and easily treatable. Also if there had of been anything it would have only been in the breast so I would have had to have the treatment I have already had again.

I don’t think mammograms are as bad as other scans for the above reasons.

Can’t you get it brought forward to before christmas to ease your mind?

Good Luck

Thank you all for your replies.
I knew I would get some common sense and yours message rang home Alise.
It would be treatable so what am I worried about?
I will do my best not to let it get the better of me.
I think feeling under the weather makes the worry worse.
I just hate being ill.
I will report back in January after I get my results.
Thank you all for reading and fingers crossed everything will be fine.
