Can anyone help

Hi I know chemo causes red feet and hands but as anyone used anything that as helped to ease symptoms as mine are red numb and hard to walk on I know it can be a se but it’s a pain when u can’t walk well Many thanks

Sounds horrible Laura - I never had this SE. Tingling and numbness but no soreness as such.

I read on one post ages ago if you get sore feet and can’t walk to try wearing crocs or croc type shoes, some people have found this helps as they are very cushiony.

Hi yea I tried flip flops my fingers are the worse I spose cos it’s all the tips and pads so u can’t feel much my onc sd prob won’t be having last chemo cos of it hope settles soon no feeling anywhere xx

I had this when I was on Capacitabine. It can be very painful. I had to put LOADS of cream on my feet at night and then put loose cotton socks on to stop the cream coming off on the bed linen. Also keep your feet cool if possible. Dont rub the cream in too vigorously. Slap it on but the more you rub the more harm you do. People recommend “Udderly smooth” cream with great success but I never bought it myself. If this continues tell your Oncology team and they may reduce the dose. depends what chemo I suppose. This happened to me and made a big difference but the chemo still did its job. Any other questions Laura?

Oh thanks my onc as already sd that this will prob be my last one cos of prob nothing about reducing it I’m on placitaxol/carboplatin hopefully if last one might get some feeling back not sure what worse hands or feet you need both at times lol I’ve been using moist didn’t no what else to try thanks

Hi Laura,

I have developed this se too, mine started after I finished my chemo, and I have still got it now, 3 months later, my big toe on my left foot and the ball of my foot is very painful and sore, I also have pain in my heel for which I have been given a steroid injection, which hasnt really helped,

my toe nail is falling off on my big toe also 2 of my finger nails have dropped off after going numb too,

it feels really perculiar, I think your gp may be able to give you painkillers at least, so you can get a bit of respite.

all the best x Liz x
