Can it affect the other breast?

As far as I’m aware, I haven’t had lymphoedema, however recently the other breast, i.e. not the one where I had the lumpectomy, seems to be more swollen. I wasn’t overly lopsided post surgery - I guess I was lucky that the lump was around the side, below the armpit. But now my left breast seems larger and not as soft… and I think more tender. You start thinking you’re imagining it! There are also much more obvious veins on the left side.

Does anyone know if it is possible to get lymphoedema in the non-affected breast? I had 18 lymph nodes removed, chemo and radiotherapy, finally finishing treatment in late Jan’08. I’d kind of hoped that was the end of it, so don’t know what has caused this to happen. Because the lymph nodes were removed on the right, the ones on the left will be working harder, so maybe that’s the reason that they appear swollen?
