Here at Breast Cancer Care we are constantly trying to improve our services for people affected by breast cancer.
We know that our website is an essential source of information and support for many people, but we also acknowledge that there is room for improvement.
We are currently working with a research agency to try and identify how people try to access information relevant to their experience of being affected by breast cancer, i.e. the sort of language and terminology that they feel most comfortable with.
To help find this out, we have created a basic ‘card-sorting’ exercise, which you can access from the link below. Once you have completed the exercise you can submit your email to be entered into a prize draw to win £50 worth of Amazon vouchers.
The exercise should only take you about twenty minutes and is interesting to take part in, more than that it will really influence how we develop our site to best suit your needs. Full and clear instructions are included when you follow the link below.
Please note: If you are taking part in one of our group sessions in London or Sheffield, you should not take part in this exercise, as you will be doing a similar task during the session itself.

I hope this is the right place to post this!
As a relative newbie to the forum, I wondered if it might be helpful to have a “sticky” in the “Have I got breast cancer?” forum, and have written something about my own experience with regard to the forum. I hope it’s useful!
The Breast Cancer Journey
Right at the beginning
The breast cancer “journey” is exactly that. A journey. I’m sure I’m not alone in my previous belief that the journey begins with a diagnosis. How wrong I was! The journey actually begins with the date of the very first appointment.
That is when it all becomes very real and all kinds of emotions come to the surface. That is also when it can be one of the most frightening and lonely experiences imaginable. But it needn’t be.
www.breastcancercare.org.uk forums are open to everyone who is affected by breast cancer and that includes those of us who have not been diagnosed. The support available on the forum is tremendous and particularly welcoming for people right at the beginning of their journey.
Your fears, worries and experiences are acknowledged right at the beginning and the support and friendship is there from the moment you first need it.
This afternoon, I have my first appointment. A couple of weeks ago, it felt as though the fear and the worry would take over my life. I felt isolated and vulnerable and really didn’t know how to cope with that.
I found the forum and was welcomed warmly, with great understanding, love and support. Thanks to this, I am facing my first appointment, not with fear and trepidation, but armed with information, strength and the support of others who know what I’m going through.
I cannot emphasise enough just how valuable this forum is!
We really need to be able to exchange email/tel nos.
It would also be good if we could be automatically signed in when we enter the site.
