can you start chemo if underarm is swollen

Hello just a quick question.
I had my ANC on 25th Jan and it was getting better exercises helping but tonight I’ve had more pain in the anderarm area and it feels a bit swollen.
I’m starting chemo on tuesday and I don’t want to put it off as I’ve been doing a countdown.
Should I speak to the nurse first about it when I get there or ring tomorrow to ask them?
Thanks
Fran xx

I can’t see that it would be a problem. It’s infection that causes concern. Would be best to ask the same Q at your oncy dept, for your own reasurance.

Morning woken up this morning and its not swollen just more painful I have paracetamol and diclafenic but both have run out maybe I need something stronger just not too strong any ideas?
Xx

Hi there,
glad your arm is less swollen, but sorry it is painful.

Re: painkillers, I suggest you speak to your onc team - they generally do not like people taking paracetamol as it can mask temperature spikes, but will be able to advise on what you can take. Hope all goes well for you tomorrow - once started it will seem much less daunting.

Take care.
