Hi Sophie, I was diagnosed with bone mets in 2003, so far I have had no other organ involvement. My understanding is yes you can pass away from bone mets. It’s normally the complications caused by bone mets, bone marrow involvement is one. Two friends of mine died of their bone mets quite recently but one of them had lived with her mets for over 10 years.
Bone mets can be controlled for some for many, many years and since my diagnosis there have been new treatments introduced.
Good Luck with your appointment tomorrow. Belinda…xx

bone mets Dear Sophie
Like Belinda I also have bone mets. these were dx in Sept 06 13 yearsafter having mastectomy. I can understand your fear and anxiety. initally I bombarded the oncologist with info about statistics for survival etc as I automatically thought that it was a death sentence but many specialists now think of it as a critical illness rather than a terminal one. He said that we are all individuals and there is no answer except that mets cannot be cured but they can be treated often for many years and if one treatment fails there are others that can be given instead.
good luck with your visit to the onc and I hope that all goes well for you.
