@wibbles yes it’s that veggie mushroom sauce that my guts don’t like! Sometimes miso plays havoc too. Isn’t it weird what sets us off??!!

This week anything which contains yeast, anything with sugar, anything with roughage especially brassicas even potatoes are all out. Lovely DD made me this for when I got home from trying to find anything l dare try to eat at the shops.it makes a nice change from smooth chicken and veg soup I have been living on for the past three days. Looks like any less processed grains including porridge are not my friends.hello lopermide!

Plain sushi rice with a hint of sushi seasoning, fried tofu, pan seared wild salmon, simple cucumber, carrot sticks and cooked soya beans and some seaweed. She skipped the quick make pickles and seared sweetcorn she had. Will ask her for her simple sushi rice recipe. Make on the day you intend to use it, chill asap and fridge asap.

Can recommend St Dalfours French fruit conserves, first time anything vaguely marmalade has tasted of orange. Shame l dare not have it on toast. Will try making flat bread made without yeast later this week. They add no sugar, no sweeteners and thicken with fruit pectin. If it has sugar added all l can taste is sugar. Again not cheap but heck if l can actually eat something that is pretty impressive.

DD s plain sushi poke bowl minus the fun so I could eat it. Pudding is tinned fruit cocktail in its own juice as the fruit is skinned. Roll on this settling down soon.

How are you doing with eggs @wibbles ? Got a lovely recipe in a book which sounds similar to what DD made you - lightly seasoned sushi rice topped with a rolled 2-egg omelette seasoned with soy sauce and some sugar and salt. It goes with a quick pickle but you could pair it with the sides you described instead or anything really. It’s very yum. Your resident my chef could prob make it on that description or I’ll happily take e photo of the recipe for you.

I have got as far as wild salmon and plain tofu. The thought of eggs is not one I would want to try yet….but please share the recipe as it may well help someone on this thread.

Good Morning,

I brought some dark chocolate 70%. Im so good I have only 2 cubes a day. (That would of been the whole bar) I’m having omlette with spinach, I am now buying frozen berries raspberries.cranberries, I find them more efficient fresh ones dont last. Chicken, veg, but bland abit of flavour. Water Ribena is my hero. Im trying to eat more in small dishes 5 times than 3 a day. Big hugs xxx

I brought some books on Kindle of smoothies also supporting kidney, liver, heart, everything silly to say supporting my body more through food. Never smoked, have drunk alchol in years, my addiction is chocolate whole nut. Big hugs xxx

Today’s meal via chemotheraphy guts. Made the mistake of assuming one slice of 50:50 bread would be okay with soup on post chemo day 9- wrong! Slow cooked simple chicken tagline (with apricots but not the spices) butternut squash, red onion, carrot, red pepper instead of tomatoes, apricots, finally diced and cooked down celery, decent organic chicken stock cube (gf) pint hot water and thickened with cornflour. Served with plain white basmati.
Oncologist has told me to try and eat what my body thinks is okay to digest, keep on top of range of fluids to stay hydrated and add extra liguids to casserole type foods, keep on top of the lopermide and reminds me l am half way through and this will not be forever. I have to say it is starting to feel like it is forever.

@wibbles you’re doing amazingly well considering how restricted your diet has to be. Great effort :flexed_biceps::star_struck:

I had banana, greek yoghurt, honey with some cereal earlier

Have you tried pineapple or would it hurt your mouth? Its supposed to be good for ulcers and taste if you can get past the initial bad taste :frowning:

Maybe some fruit icepoles??? I quite fancy this now ive typed it haha

When I lost my taste during covid one of the only flavours I could really taste was marmite. I used to put it on everything. Toast, crackers, even jacket potato. Not sure if thats helpful for this situation but might be worth a try

I found cool to better than warm.

Stewed fruit is soft and really healthy. I love stewed apple with sultanas and cinnamon but you could try anything. Add some honey for sweetness. Mashed banana, Yoghurt, cottage cheese, jacket potatoes, rice pudding, custard, mashed avocado….lots of things are quite soft if you think hard about it. And soup!!! You can always bulk soup out with little pasta shapes or orzo, or tinned cannelloni or butter beans. Hope you find something you can tolerate @katie91

Good point about stewed fruit @sam1204 . You can try stewed pears as well as apples as a base to add cooked berries. Can be chilled too.

Soup does not have to be smooth. I can recommend simple broths with small chopped veg, protein you can face eg tofu, beans or similar, meat, careful with fish ( avoid shellfish and crustaceans) though as that needs to be eaten same day. I do mine over a serving of gf spaghetti to make soup noodles. You can use egg based wheat noodles - my guts anre objecting to gluten this time. Broths are my go to as its both soft on sore mouths and easy for very grumpy guts to digest, you can make them quickly and juggle the ingredients so they offer a good food balance plus you get the bonus of some extra fluids on top. Do use a good stock cube though ( I use kallo organic ones as GF)

I found a decent sugar based cordial helped the first two times of taxel bad tastes, this time round its fresh fruit juice with no added sugar added to water. Fruit smoothies have been nice but the first two times they were anything but. This time ice lollies have helped but l try to get decent fruit ones. TK MAXX often have ice lolly moulds at this time of year so you could make your own based on what tastes okay week by week.

TBH your tastes can change each and every time you have chemotherapy so try not to be too anxious about taste testing each time.

Everything is just so stingy on my tongue at the minute other than Greek yoghurt, wonder if I should make some home made ice pops with Greek yoghurt and bits of fruit hidden in it like a child

I’m very conscious I’m not getting very many nutrients at all at the minute!! Even the huel black edition feel gritty when I’m drinking them :face_with_medical_mask:

Its getting slightly easier day by day though!! Xxx

That’s a good idea about stweing fruit, never though of that!! Will definitely give some of these ideas a try to get some nutrients in me! And yes to soup I’ve been having some veggie soups but never thought to bulk it with pasta etc!

Just missing a crusty baguette with lashings of butter to dip in it but I think my tongue would just fall off if I even dared :joy: xx
